The calendar says that it’s October but the weather is still so warm here that, I really don’t know. Usually October is my favorite month of the year, I love to watch the leaves change to beautiful colors. And of course, Halloween candy and the beginning of pie season! So that’s why this week’s design is a 2 pack – the Cute Pumpkins Mug Rugs with the bonus Cute Jack-O-Lanterns Mug Rugs.
The reason I included 2 designs in this pattern is because I couldn’t decide which one I liked more. Pumpkins would work great all season long, you could have pumpkins out from September to December, ya know? But as I said before, I love Halloween and jack-o-lanterns are so cute that I really wanted to make them too. So I just said, whatever it’s been a hard year, we should just have some joy in our lives.
Both of these designs are super easy. I think I made both of them in one day when I was designing them. And I went back to the fringe, because something about full fringe just feels Halloween to me, as opposed to the crab stitch I used on my Cute Cups Mug Rugs (although you can totally make the crab stitch on these and have them be cute).
Anyway, I do hope you like these little home decor touches I’ve been designing lately. I love personally love how quick they are to make and how much personality they have. Although, I think I’ll make a pillow for next month. What do you think of mug rugs? Let me know in the comments!
I hope where ever you are you’re having a great time and being safe and healthy. Hugs friends. Wash your hands and masks

- US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
- Size #4 worsted weight yarn
- .5 – 1 oz. / 20 – 40 yards
- 3 -4 colors
- Notions: scissors, measuring tape, yarn needle
Gauge
- 18 rows x 18 scs = 4”
Terms/ Stitches used
- RS: right side
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Sc: single crochet
Notes
- This pattern is worked from the bottom up, flat, in back and forth rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row.
- Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- Your mug rug may need some light blocking.
- In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
- Color A is white, color B is orange, Color C is green, and color D is black (all stash colors).
- You can buy a pdf with both graphs in it in my Ravelry Shop.

Your materials list included polyfill and a stick but I didn't see those referenced anywhere in the instructions, or in the pictures.

How do you change colors on the mug rugs? I'm not the best crochet Ed.

The same way you change colors doing single crochet, just pull through the new color on your last pull through. There are some good tutorials out there for it :)
