This Tiny Purse Makes a Great Purse

Cute Squares Purse free crochet pattern by DivineDebris.com

Hello friends!
Wow, it’s been a hot on here in SoCal, which is why my designs are all pretty quick and not items that will be weighing on me. I mean, I am making a blanket but it’s from 4″ squares and I will do the assembly when it gets cooler. See, always thinking 😉

Anyway… like I was saying, it’s been warm here so I’m working on designs that aren’t heavy and this week’s is no different. I have wanted to make another fun summery purse but make it different from the previous ones I’ve released lately (wow, it’s been a summer of purses, yeah?). All I knew, is I wanted to make something that used smaller squares to make a larger square. I mostly just wanted that lovely texture!

Check out more crochet bag patterns here!

Don’t you love how the squares come together and all stand out while making a larger thing? I don’t know why but that’s really pleasing to me. I just made the front look like that but if you wanted to do both sides so they’re fancy, you definitely could. I’ve been carting this purse around for the last week because it’s just big enough for my wallet, cellphone, and some lipstick. It’s all I need (unless I’m bringing a project but that usually gets its own bag). And of course I added some fringe. Who doesn’t love a good bit of fringe?

I hope you like this design! I can’t wait to see the different colors and creativity everyone puts into it.

  • You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.

Assembly example of the Cute Squares Purse free crochet pattern by DivineDebris.com

-Assembly-
Arrange your 4 smaller squares from the Front so that they make a larger square. Starting in the ch-2 spaces, seam your squares together where they touch in your preferred method. I slip-stitched the squares together using the BLO starting left to right and then top to down. Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Hold together your Front piece (with all the 4 squares seamed) and Back piece so they line up. Create a slipknot on your hook and start in a ch-2 space at the corner, sc into the ch-2 spaces in the Front and Back pieces, sc into the next 26 sts (this counts each sc and 1 sc into the ch-2 spaces on the Front and each st on the Back throughout), sc twice into the ch-2 space and rotate your piece, sc into the next 26 sts, sc twice into the ch-2 space and rotate your piece, sc into the next 26 sts, sc once into the ch-2 space – 84 sc
Do not fasten off.
