The Free Amelia Basket Crochet Pattern for Stash Busting

[Image description] A white woman holds the 6 color striped Amelia Basket in front of her body, while wearing a blanket tank top and jeans.

One of my most favorite ways to have crochet around the home is in the form of a basket. In my living room, always, is my Calista Basket and it’s always full of yarn. Do you know how much stretch you can get from a yarn basket? So much! And you can really get some yarn in there. And if you’re like me, I hope you’re excited for the new Amelia Basket crochet pattern.
So… this is another in my Amelia Line that all started with the Amelia Sweater back in February. Like the Calista Basket I made it using some squishy, squishy bulky yarn which makes the whole design work up super fast and it’s really durable. It’s worked in the round from the base up and really easy to make bigger or smaller by adding more repeats. All you want to do is keep an even stitch count an this basket will work up fine for you.
Now the only issue you could have with this design is inconsistent tension. Be careful to keep your sts even and if you need to, you can block the basket. It’ll help to loosen the sides and make it even. Oh, and you can go down to a smaller hook on the handles if they’re floppy for you. It’s just a good rule of thumb with baskets because they do flair some at the top and that kind looks icky unless you’ve got loads of yarn stuffed in there (that’s my favorite way to fix any shaping issues).
So, yeah, I do hope you like this basket. I wanted to make something fun and quick for the home that is a perfect stash buster. You can make this in any size yarn you want, just make sure you adjust your hook (check that gauge). And any colors or 1 color, you can make this basket perfect for your home.

Remember to be kind to each other, wash your masks, and stay safe friends <3 <3

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for the purposes of designing the Amelia Basket crochet pattern, without compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but I honestly can say I do enjoy this yarn, it’s a really good yarn for garments. If you purchase yarn through any of the links in this post, I will be compensated.
