Who’s ready for Summer? Because on the way no matter what my friends. And to celebrate this week I’m releasing the Citrus Crush Bag. And I decided to split up the release that way you can find the Cute Lime Squares crochet graphs here in this post.
When I released the Cat Lady Bag back in February I had people ask if I had the squares available individually and not with the bag instructions. To be honest, I didn’t think of that before and assumed people wouldn’t be into it. But after I asked on social media, some people were definitely interested in being able to get the patterns separately, so I thought I’d give it a go with the new Citrus Crush Bag.
Like I’ve said before, I use Stitch Fiddle I design my coaster patterns and that’s true for these new lime squares. They’re worked in single crochet stitches from the bottom up in rows. One square only uses 2 colors and the other 3. And of course, I wanted to give you the option of a slice and a whole lime. that way you can make both or either for what suits your purpose. Because they’re both so wonderfully Summer.
Below you’re going to find some photos of the Cute Lemon and Lime Slice squares and I included them so you can get a bit more insight into how I like to work my squares. The techniques I most often use to keep the square’s RS clean and readable are the same in all my coaster patterns – I always use a combination of tapestry and intarsia when I’m working color work (any color work tbh) because it makes the design better.
In this post there are 2 separate graphs for the Cute Lime Squares – one for each lime design you see in the photos. If you’d like written/ color coded instructions you can pick them up in my Ravelry shop (I’m working on other places to post them). I do this because it is still a lot of work to make these pattern and buying the pdf helps me to afford yarn, web hosting, time making, and all the other expenses that come with this blog and I do hope you understand.
I do hope you like this week’s releases. If you do, please comment below and let me know what you think about breaking the Citrus Crush Bag into separate posts for people who only want Lemons and Limes. 😀 I hope that it proves helpful to everyone.
Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for the purposes of designing the Citrus Crush Bag and the Cute Lime Squares crochet patterns, with compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but I’ve used Basic Stitch many times for home decor, garments, and whatnot and it’s one of my favorite worsted yarns to use. Notes on carrying yarn on the Cute Lime Squares crochet pattern
For yarn conservation and clarity purposes, most of the colors are not carried throughout the
pattern. Instead I used “bobbins” or individual stands of color for the pattern. This method is
called intarsia if you’d like to look it up for further assistance.
Below are 2 close up photos of the Lemon Square showing all the colors being used separately
(this also applies to the Lime Square). If you’d like to carry the yarn, I do suggest that while
carrying the inactive yarn with the RS facing, make sure it’s behind the previous row’s stitches.
And when carrying the inactive yarn with the WS facing, make sure it’s in front of the previous
row’s stitches. Separate strands of color A are used and 1 strand of B is used, B is not taken to
the edges and A is not carried through the center.
Below are photos of the Slice of Lime Square (also applies to the Slice of Lemon Square). Like
the Lemon and Lime Squares, color A is not carried through the square and 2 separate strands
are used on the edges. Color B/D or C/D are carried and alternated through the center of the
square however. Blocking (especially steam blocking) should help any bulkiness in this section.
Refer to the note on the previous page about carrying yarn.
