A Ghoul’s Best Friend Blanket C2C Crochet Pattern – Free Halloween Blanket

Learn to make the A Ghoul's Best Friend Blanket from a free c2c crochet graph. Perfect for Halloween crochet!

Halloween is my favorite time of year and if you’ve visited my blog before, you know probably already know that. It’s also my “busy season” because I get so many ideas I just want to make them all. And this week I’m so excited to release another wonderfully and silly blanket – the C2C A Ghoul’s Best Friend Blanket crochet pattern.

Last week I fulfilled a crochet dream of mine, I made and released my first Halloween blanket (the Cat Moon Rising Blanket). I’ve wanted to make one for years and this year, well it looks like I’ve made 2! And this one is, IMO, even funner. It’s full of cats and ghosts… what’s more perfectly Halloween?

Using Stitch Fiddle I designed this blanket to be worked on the bias, meaning diagonally, as is traditional with Corner to Corner. If you’ve never tried this technique, I totally recommend it. When I learned a few years ago, I used Meghan Makes Do’s tutorial and found it very helpful. I used bobbins of color or just kept the yarn attached to the skein to make working this design easier. Just remember to turn back and forth, not in a circle, when you’re working the rows to try to avoid tangles (they’re not entirely avoidable but one can try).

If you don’t want to work this design on the bias, you can definitely follow the graph back and forth and make it a large wall hanging in sc or in dc as a mosaic design. I can’t advise too much on the mosaic as I’ve never worked one before but I bet it would look super cute. You could even tunisian or cross stitch or whatever you can think of to use the graph for. More Halloween the better, right?

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope you like this week’s pattern 🙂 And happy Halloween season to you! Remember to like this pattern on Ravelry.

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for the purposes of designing a kit and used it for the A Ghoul’s Best Friend Blanket crochet pattern, with compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but been using Pound of Love Yarn for as long as I’ve been crocheting, it’s one of my favorite worsted with yarns for blankets. And I was commissioned to make this pattern and you can buy a kit for this pattern on Lion Brand’s Website. This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase yarn through any of the links in this post, I may be compensated. And do not make videos using my patterns.

Notes on bobbins of color for the A Ghoul’s Best Friend Blanket crochet pattern

[Image description] Top down view of a half-finished A Ghoul's Best Friend Blanket with 5 skeins of yarn along the top of the photo.

As the photo on the above demonstrates, separate balls of yarn were used for the separate sections of color. This helps to keep the back tidy and conserves yarn. However, for the
spots like the cat’s face, the yarn was carried/ crocheted over both purple and white as needed.

For this design I suggest creating balls of yarn in these amounts:

  • At least 3 – 4 of color A (Thistle)
  • At least 3 – 4 of color B (White)

Feel free to adjust as you’d like to make balls of yarn for this pattern
