Free Squishy Tree Ami Crochet Pattern – It’s Totally Squishy!

Make a great Christmas with a whole family of crochet tree designs. These Squishy Tree Ami crochet patterns are free and waiting to be made!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well this week… I’m, cold. I’m actually writing this post with cold fingers because it’s starting to feel a bit like Winter in my home. I’m always thankful for a warm cup of coffee, but today even more so. That’s why I switched up my release schedule this week so I could put out my fun, squishy tree ami pattern you may have seen on my Instagram or Facebook pages. I love posting photos of things as I work on them but then people see things that won’t be out for weeks or even longer, and I hate that. Or maybe it increases people’s interest in keeping an eye on my work. I don’t know, I’m not particularly good at self-marketing.

So… anyway, this week’s design is a cute ami tree pattern. I was thinking about what I love to decorate with and, funny enough, my hubs and I don’t even put up a Christmas tree at our house. I think that’s what motivated me to make this design. 😀 I do hope you like it and give it a try when you get a chance. I purposely left this tree a bit bare so you could add your own decorations (pompoms or puffy paint garland), not unlike a regular tree.

Other new this week is that I’m participating in a huge Black Friday extravaganza-type thing with 19 other designers… so if you’re following me on FB you might want to stop by around noon tomorrow. I’ll update this post with more details tomorrow.

Materials

  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Aran/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
  • Yarn needle
Ravelry link

Gauge

  • 4″ = 17 scs x 14 rows

Terms/stitches used:

  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Sc2tog: single crochet 2 sts together
  • Fdc: foundation single crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is worked in 3 sections – each tree and then the border. The trees are worked back and forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row. The border is worked around the whole piece when both trees are completed.
  • Earrings: Make the Kid Sister Trees into earrings, you can use size 10 crochet thread and 2.10 mm crochet hook. Just follow the instructions as they’re written and you’ll get about 2.5″ high earrings.
  • The ch-1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
  • The trees are worked in 4 parts – each tier is worked then fastened off and the next one is worked on top of the previous. The stem is added after the tiers are finished.
  • You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
  • You will need to know how to make a foundation single crochet to extend a row for this pattern.
  • The stitch counts at the end of the row counts both sc and sc2togs.
  • Big tree: Color A is dark green (Caron One Pound in Forest Green | 1.1 oz/ 58.2 yds), color B is brown (Caron One Pound in Taupe | .1 oz/ 5 yds, and color C is off white (Caron One Pound in Off-White | .2 oz/ 10 yds ).
