Hello everyone!
This week has been a busy one for me, and it’s only Tuesday! Wait, before I get into that, can you believe how fast this month has gone? I swear it was just Halloween! But now here we are, days before US Thanksgiving and I have only made 1 pie. If you’re new to my blog, you might not know but I LOVE pie and I make at least 4 during November for my spouse and myself. Sure, it’s a lot of work but when you love what you do… 😉
Anyway, like I was saying, this week has been a busy one for me, mostly because this week started last week. I was having a really hard time with depression and anxiety last week and everything was just really hard. I had to slog through, bit by bit, to get things done for this week in a preparation type of thing, and it was not fun at all for me. It’s really difficult to explain how you can just keep going about your life when you’re not really feeling it. It’s like swimming just below the surface, you’re able to take little breaths every once and in while but you can’t fill your lungs, and you just keep swimming. I am feeling better this week though, so that’s good, even with all the patterns I’m working on and designs I have in my head. When I’m having a bad week (depression-wise) it sucks because it makes working on patterns so much harder. I don’t get the enjoyment I usually do from crochet, so I lose time working and relaxing. :/
Luckily I had this pattern done. It was all ready to go, just needed photos, before the bad feelings set in.
I’ve been wanting to make more pillows lately, which I hope you all are loving, especially when using tapestry. I think it ads a nice touch of unique to a home. Like, if you can make your own pillows, you can decorate for ANY holiday 😀 And with this design I decided to experiment with fun new font, because while big blocking letters are awesome, they’re not always pretty… ya know?
So, I hope you like this week’s design. I have 2 styles in the pillow for you to play around with, so I hope you give it a try. I can’t wait to see your photos!

Materials

  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Worsted/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
  • Yarn needle
  • Polyfill

Gauge

  • 19 rows x 17 sts = 4″

Terms/stitches used

  • Rnd: round
  • RS: right side
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is worked in 3 sections: the Front, the Back, and Securing. The Front and Back are worked back and forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row. The securing goes around the outside of the pillow, to secure the Front and Back pieces together.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • You’re going to need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
  • All of the stitches in this pattern are single crochets. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses will tell you how many single crochets to make.
  • The yarn wasn’t carried across the tapestry sections, instead the use of bobbins like they did on Hodgepodge Crochet is suggested for this pattern.
  • For the Front Piece: color A is off white (Caron One Pound in Off-White) and color B is black (Caron One Pound in Black), and color C is red (misc stash color). For the Back Piece: color A is any color that’s not black (misc stash colors), color B is black (Caron One Pound in Black).

– Securing –
Note: to add a little extra texture, the securing border is sc & ch 1. You do not have to skip a stitch for the ch 1, the addition of it just gives a slight scalloped edge to the pillow. Feel free to just sc the two pieces together. Be sure to stuff your pillow before moving closing your final side of your pillow.
Lay the Wrong Sides of both pieces so that they’re laying against one and other, starting in the bottom right corner (left corner if you’re left-handed) of the row ends.
Rnd 1: Create a slipknot on your hook and sc into the first st on the row end, *ch 1, sc into the next row end,* repeat from * to * into the next 56 row ends, ch 1 at the corner and rotate your whole piece 90 degrees, sc into the first st, *ch 1, sc into the next st* repeat from * to * into the next 66 sts, ch 1 at the corner and rotate your whole piece 90 degress, sc into the row end, *ch 1, sc into the next row end,* repeat from * to * into the next 56 row ends, ch 1 at the corner and rotate your whole piece 90 degress, sc into the first st, *ch 1, sc into the next st* repeat from * to * into the next 66 sts (don’t forget to stuff your pillow!), ch 1, slip st into the first st – 248 sc
Fasten off, weave in all your ends.

Tada! There’s the fun and easy to customize Craft Pillow! I hope you love it and share photos <3 See ya next week
