Tasha Is At It Again

Hi everyone!
Wow, I took last week off and it was very nice but I think all that relaxing messed up my brain because I just feel like this week is dragging so much and it’s only Tuesday. I keep meaning to get up, get stuff started (finishing patterns, starting new ones, grocery shopping, etc) but I’m just not into it at all. Anyway…
Do you know something I don’t talk about a lot? I love variegated yarn. I love to find weird collections of color in the yarn and then let that color tell me a story. I let the color do what it’s supposed to do, which is be gorgeous, in a design. I hate when I can’t get a design and a colorway to work out right, it makes me super sad. This design isn’t one of those super sad designs though, it looks like a weird pizza-watermelon to me. 😀
I won a really awesome giveaway from Premier Yarns and got sent 5 skeins of their gorgeous DK Colors yarn and I’ve been trying hard to make something beautiful with it – I’ve tried a few different designs and not worked the way I wanted to showcase the design and the yarn in pleasing way. Then I decided to revisit my Tunisian hooks and everything clicked at half-past midnight one night. Inspiration strikes late some days.
So here it is, another Tunisian design I really hope you like. I love the texture of this piece, it’s really simple but that’s what makes it great (I guess that’s a matter of opinion but I’m into it). And I’ve included the multiple in the notes if you want to make this shawl larger – I just wanted a small triangular shawl that works as a light shawl for cooler nights and a cute asymmetrical scarf for the winter.

Notes

  • This pattern is worked from the widest part to the smallest part, in a triangular shape.
  • As with Tunisian patterns, each row in the instructions below have a forward pass and a return pass.
  • If you’re like me and just beginning in Tunisian, check out some amazing videos by Kim Guzman or on Moogly. There are really a ton of quality designers that are trying to help people learn, if you’re interested you should definitely check them out!
  • You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
  • Skip the first vertical bar (the beginning of the row).
  • The decreases on this shawl are all on one side, which gives it its triangular shape. The decrease isn’t a traditional decrease, you just skip the last st of the row.
  • This design is super easy to adapt, just add 5 chs to the original chain row and repeat the pattern (8 rows of TSS decrease every other row, 2 rows of TPS with 1 row decrease, 4 rows of TSS decreasing every row, 2 rows of TPS with 1 row decrease).
  • In the photos: the yarn used is Premier Yarns DK Colors in Rose Garden.
