December, wow! Can’t you believe it’s the end of 2025?
I feel like this month (it’s already the 11th) and this year have flown by. I think that’s one of those things that happens as you get older. But I guess that just means you gotta be making fun crochet stuff while you still can. Right? Maybe like this week’s new release, the Moon Phase Wall Hanging crochet pattern.

Back in July I design the Moon Phase Wall Hanging and I have to tell you, the desire for an idea like that had been in my head for years. I’ve always loved astrological imagery and tried to embrace my inner witch at times (in a kick ass feminist way not in a tradwife way) and I’ve always loved some moons. And I’ll be honest with you, I loved how the Moon Phase Wall Hanging turned out and have wanted to make another similar design ever since. And might as well close out the year with it, huh?

Like nearly all my other wall hanging patterns, the Simple Moon Phase Wall Hanging is worked from the bottom up in rows of single crochet stitches. Using Stitch Fiddle I designed this pattern as a fun intro or good tapestry/ intarsia project for people looking to get into the technique. And while you could use tapestry crochet for this project I used intarsia – IE: I used bobbins of color so I didn’t have to carry/ crochet over carried yarn. I used 2 ends of purple and one of cream and dropped and picked up the colors as I went across the row (dropping the unused yarn down the WS). If you’re like me and you use bobbin’s for color work like this, be sure to work back and forth and not in a circle to try to keep the yarn from getting too tangled – here’s a video on Instagram showing what I mean.

Below the graph is available to view, that way if you’d like to make this as sc or hdc or dc you can do it… but you can also make it in C2C if you want to work the graph on a bias. And if you’d prefer you can knit, Tunisian crochet , and even cross stitch this design using the graph as well. It’s entirely up to you 😀

And in keeping with industry standards, if you’d like written instructions to this pattern you can pick those up in my Ravelry shop (it’s written in back and forth rows so it won’t help you with C2C). I know talking about money makes people uncomfortable but I split up these patterns this way so that people do have an incentive to pick up the pdf, it helps me to keep making patterns here on my blog. I hope you understand.

I hope to release another pattern this month but I don’t know where the inspiration will take me. I have been feeling off for a while and I have a harder and harder time making things I don’t love. Ya know? Life is short, we should be able to spend our time making art we enjoy. It’s simple IMO. As always, thank you for checking out my pattern and I hope you like it.

Do not make videos from my pattern, you don’t have permission even if this pattern is free.

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for the purposes of designing other patterns but I used the left over to make the Simple Moon Phase Wall Hanging pattern, without compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but I love Hue + Me and have used it so many times.

  • The odd rows are the RS.
  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up, row by row with a turn at the beginning of the rows. Finally, after blocking, you sew it to a stick and add any finishing touches you’d like such as surface crochet or fringe.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
  • I worked this design using bobbins/ intarsia the whole way. I didn’t carry the yarn across but you can if you’d like, it’s entirely up to you (might be bulky).
  • Blocking is suggested for this pattern.

With color A (or any color you’d like), sc or sew your wooden dowel or stick to your wall hanging.
For the hanger, ch 55 with color A (or any color you’d like) and tie the ends to the first and last sts on the final row of the wall hanging.

Feel free to add any details, such a fringe or surface crochet to customize your final piece.
I added twisted fringe to other side of Row 1 but you could add simple, classic fringe. If you’ve never tried it, check out this YouTube tutorial from The Crochet Crowd (please note that this tutorial isn’t mine).
