Pineapples, again! The Pineapples Mug Cozy Free Crochet Pattern

[Image description] the Pineapples Mug Cozy free crochet pattern sits on a to-go coffee cup against an off white background on an off white surface.

Hi again!
How are you this week? I’m thinking about wonderful and pretty Summer days with this week’s new pattern. With my hubs & I talking about moving to SoCal, my brain immediately thought of pineapples. Who doesn’t associate pineapples with Summer?

I also wanted a fun and quick design this week, because last week’s Beer Mug Ami pattern is a lot. Depending upon how fast you crochet, it might take you a little or a long time to make. This week’s design is pretty quick, it took me an evening to work up the sample. I’ve been in the middle of a large shawl design so I’m happy to have a quick pattern to mix up the monotony.  I also like a nice pattern if you’re stressed out like me (the move is making me super anxious) and need a break.
I hope you do like this fun pattern – it’s quick and honestly I do love mug cozies because I drink a lot of coffee! 🙂

You can purchase an ad-free pdf of this pattern in my Ravelry shop. This purchase helps me to make patterns week after week.

Materials

  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Aran/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • 16 scs x 14 rows = 4″

Terms/ stitches

  • RS: right side (side that faces out)
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • BLO: back loop only

Notes

  • This pattern is worked in the round, from the bottom up, with a slip st into the first st of the row.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • All of the stitches in this pattern are single crochets. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many single crochets to make.
  • In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out this helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
  • You need to know how to work into the back loop only (BLO) for this pattern. At the end of the row, slip st into both loops, this will help keep your seam straight.
  • If you don’t work this pattern in the back loop only, it might end up leaning. You can block the finished item to make it lean less.
  • In the photos: color A is white (Caron One Pound in White), color B is yellow (Caron One Pound in Sunflower), and color C is green (some misc green color).

Pineapples Mug Cozy Pattern Finished measurements
