Hi friends!
Ok, so straight out of the gate I’m just going to say it. I really like how this square turned out!
When I started designing squares for this years CAL theme, I knew I wanted to make an iced coffee square. I was so excited to make one but I was also worried it would be like April’s square (which more than a few people keep telling me they didn’t like :/ ). That this square would turn out too weird and no one would like it. But you know what? I really like it! It’s a little weird and I did take some artistic liberties with it, but I do love it!
I felt like this square would look great with the other designs in the CAL and also really bring home the idea of “Summer.” Honestly, what else means summer coffee better than a nice iced coffee?
I hope you like this design as much as I do and add it to your stack of squares.
In other news, I’m heading off to OML in a couple days and I’m terribly nervous. I’ll have some photos on my IG in the coming days. I hope you follow along!

Materials
- US H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
- Aran/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
- 1.2 oz. / 60 yards
- At least 5 colors
- I used Caron One Pound
- Yarn needle
Terms/ Stitches used
- RS: right side
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Slip st: slip stitch
- Sc: single crochet
Notes
- This pattern is worked flat back and forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/end of the row, from the bottom up.
- This square measures about 7.5″ unblocked and will come out with 8″ with a sc border (explained below). The photos do not feature a border.
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
- The odd rows are the right side.
- Your square may need some light blocking.
- You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
- In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
- Color A is off-white (Caron One Pound in Off-White), color B is brown (Caron One Pound in Espresso), color C is taupe (Caron One Pound in Taupe), color D is cream (Caron One Pound in Cream), and color E is green (Caron One Pound in Green).
