Fruit of the ‘Shroom Wall Hanging Free Crochet Pattern

Learn to make a bit of cute and fun magical forest decor with the Fruit of the 'Shroom Wall Hanging free crochet graph

Happy new wall hanging day friends. If you’ve been around here for a while you know I love “painting with yarn” and making weird and fun wall hangings. And while I’ve feel a little out of it for a while, I finally have a new one for y’all and it’s the Fruit of the ‘Shroom Wall Hanging.

This design, like all my other wall hangings, it worked from the bottom up in rows of single crochet stitches. I know there are lots of colors and for the most part I used different sections of color for each section of color… with the exception of the fruits – I carried the orange/ yellow and white and crocheted over them as I changed colors. I felt like that was just the easiest way for me to work the piece. That’s the best way that works for me but you can find what works for you.

For the color work, I just change colors on the final pull through of the stitch and carry the yarn up the back (drop it down the WS when not in use and pick it back up when I need it). It just keeps the design looking clearer from the front and the back stays a bit messy but no one really sees it so who cares if it’s not pretty.

As I’ve said in other posts, when working with many colors like this I always make sure to turn at the end/ beginning of the row back and forth (left, then right, then left, then right) rather than in a circle (left, then left, then left) which helps me keep all my bobbins/ yarn less tangled. Unfortunately, tangles can be unavoidable at times but like with all things, we gotta try our best. Right? 😀 Oh, and don’t forget to block your color work, it makes a world of difference. Especially with steam blocking, that uses hot steam/ water to relax the yarn. It’s what I use and that gets these designs as close to flat as possible. This includes the fringe.

Below the graph is available to view, that way if you’d like to make this as sc or hdc or dc you can do it… but you can also make it in C2C if you want to work the graph on a bias. And if you’d prefer you can knit, Tunisian crochet , and even cross stitch this design using the graph as well. It’s entirely up to you 😀 But, keeping with industry standards, if you’d like written instructions to this pattern you can pick those up in my Ravelry shop (it’s written in back and forth rows so it won’t help you with C2C). I know talking about money makes people uncomfortable but I split up these patterns this way so that people do have an incentive to pick up the pdf, it helps me to keep making patterns here on my blog. I hope you understand.

I hope you like this week’s new release! It’s a fun and colorful one and I can’t wait to start on my next wall hanging. If you’ve got any ideas, leave them in the comments 😀

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern Brava Worsted by WeCrochet for the purposes of designing patterns other than the Fruit of the ‘Shroom Wall Hanging crochet pattern, without compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but I’ve used Brava many times for wall hangings and other goodies, it’s a fantastic yarn. Begin with a ch 61 in color A, turn, and start in the 2nd ch from the hook. Each row begins with a “ch 1, turn” and all st counts are 60 sc.

Top/ Hanging
With color B, sew your wooden dowel or stick to your wall hanging (or sc into the last row across if you’d like).
For the hanger, ch 70 with color E and tie the ends to the first and last sts on the final row of the wall hanging.

Fringe (optional)
Feel free to add any details, such a fringe or surface crochet to customize your final
piece. I added fringe that corresponded with the colors on Row 1, that way it looks a bit like the color is bleeding down through the wall hanging.
