Happy October!
Isn’t it the best time of year? Well… this year has been super hot and so it’s been a bit hard to get into the Fall spirit but I’m trying. I’m determined to find the Halloween in October if it drives me a bit crazy. And with that in mind, I’ve got a cute new design for the season – the Ghosts in the Moon Wall Hanging crochet pattern.

Back in April I released the Mythical Mushrooms Wall Hanging and with that pattern I was trying to explore how to make a wall hanging that’s a bit smaller and quicker to make. I liked it and it seemed like many of you out there did too so… here’s another cute itty bitty (but still decent sized) design. I think I might make this into a series of some sort – all about the same size with a similar color palette and with a mushroom or a moon or something. I haven’t decided exactly but the important think is – this wall hanging (not counting fringe or the hanger) is about 8.3″ high and 7.75″ wide.

Like nearly all my other wall hanging patterns, the Ghosts in the Moon Wall Hanging is worked from the bottom up in rows of single crochet stitches. Using Stitch Fiddle I designed this pattern as a tapestry/ intarsia project for people to customize as you’d like with colors in your stash. As always, I used a combination of techniques to make mine – skeins of color for the individual sections of color (picking them up and dropping them down the WS when not in use) and then crocheted over some spots (like the white spots on the mushroom) where the space was small enough. If you decide use bobbins for color work like this, be sure to work back and forth and not in a circle to try to keep the yarn from getting too tangled – here’s a video on Instagram showing what I mean.

Below the graph is available to view, that way if you’d like to make this as sc or hdc or dc you can do it… but you can also make it in C2C if you want to work the graph on a bias. And if you’d prefer you can knit, Tunisian crochet , and even cross stitch this design using the graph as well. Recently I made a scarf (pattern coming soon) with extended sc with tapestry and it looks awesome, I may try that for a wall hanging one day. There’s so much room to customize, just make sure you’re happy!

And in keeping with industry standards, if you’d like written instructions to this pattern you can pick those up in my Ravelry shop (it’s written in back and forth rows so it won’t help you with C2C). I separate patterns like this because I don’t make a ton off of patterns listed for free on my blog – I do have ads but with adblock type extensions, it’s not sustainable to make patterns with just ad revenue.

I wish you a happy Halloween season friends. I have said many times over it’s my favorite time of year and with the heat it’s been hard for me to find the “spoopy” of it all. I think I’ll watch the new Carrie series (who doesn’t love Mike Flanagan?) and make some soup and think about a stocking with a ghost one it. Maybe. Either way, I hope you like this week’s new pattern and take care of yourself and your community.

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for the purposes of designing other patterns but I used the left over to make the Ghosts in the Moon Wall Hanging pattern, without compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but Pound of Love works fantastic for a wall hanging (I’ve used it often).
