Anchors Away Part 2- This Time… It’s a Basket

Hi! How’s your Tuesday going? I’m actually on vacation in SoCal visiting family and I thought this post would be perfect to post while I am away. And because I’m enjoying the glorious sun and sand of southern California, I wanted to release something in the theme and anchors are always a hit, right? I mean, you loved my Anchors Away Bag right?

Anyway, I love this lil’ basket, it’s just too cute and fun. I made this in 5 different blue colors to make it look like it’s traveling down, I hope you can see that in the photos. 😀 If you visit the blog often, you know I’m a nerd and love to be silly with my designs and make pretty color combinations. Either way, I do hope you like this pattern!

If you appreciate my weekly patterns, I hope you would consider purchasing the pdf of this pattern on Ravelry to help me to keep bringing weekly patterns to you.

Materials:

  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Worsted/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
  • Yarn needle

Gauge:

  • 4″ = 16 scs x 16 rows

Terms/stitches used:

  • Magic circle
  • RS: right side (side that faces out)
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet

Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in the round, with a slip st into the first st from the last st.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • Following the base, sc into the back loop only.
  • If you don’t work this pattern in the back loop only, it might end up leaning. You can block the finished item to make it lean less.
  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up.
  • All of the stitches in this pattern are single crochets. The instructions for the sides portion (where all the color changes are) will only tell you how many stitches to do in what color, this is what the number in the parentheses means.
  • Color A is any blue color, and color B is white.
  • When changing colors at the beginning of the row, just pull up the new color where you start the row.
  • Also check out this post about tapestry crochet from Moogly, it’s helpful.

Finished product dimensions:

  • Height: 5.25″ (sides), 6.75″ (handles pulled up)
  • Diameter: 8.25″
  • Base: 5″ in diameter

Sides
Note:

  • Every stitch in the sides portion of the pattern is a single crochet, because of this the directions only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses then tells you how many single crochets to make.
  • Following the ch 1, the first st is worked into the same st as join.
