Update: You can download this pdf here. So, I’ve been having tons of fun with super fine yarn, mostly because it’s light weight and

looks so delicate when worked up (like my Imogene hat). However, because the weather here took a very cold turn, I pulled out some heavier weight yarn and made another nice close fitting cowl. You may have already seen this picture on Instagram.

Introducing the Diana Cowl:

It’s super simple, you may love it, especially if you like textured scarves. I used Vanna’s Choice for this but you could also use a worsted weight yarn for this as well. 😀 I’m sure it’d be lovely.

Gauge:
5” x 5” = 8 rows x 17 DCs

Terms/stitches used:
Ch: chain
St: stitch
Sc: single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet

Notes:
-You will need to know how to work into the third loop of the hdc.
-The ch 1 on the beginning of the hdc rows does not count as a stitch and helps to keep the seam from traveling.

Finished product dimensions:
Height: 5″ – 5.5″
Diameter: 13″ – 13.5″

Diana Cowl Crochet Pattern Instructions

Row 1: Ch 100, slip st into the first ch to create a large ring. Do not twist this chain unless you’d like a twist in your final scarf.
Row 2: Ch 1, hdc into same st as join and into each st around – 100 hdcs
Rows 3 – 4: Ch 1, hdc into the third loop of same st as join and into the third loop of each st around – 100 hdcs
Row 5: Into the third loop of last row of hdcs: turn, ch 1, hdc into first st, slip st into next st, *hdc into next st, slip st into next st,* repeat from * to * 48 more times, slip st into the first hdc to secure – 50 hdcs
Rows 6- 9: Turn, ch 1, hdc into first st, slip st into next st, *hdc into next st, slip st into next st,* repeat from * to * 48 more times, slip st into the first hdc to secure – 50 hdcs
Rows 10 – 12: repeat rows 2 – 4
Rows 13 – 20: repeat rows 5 – 12
Row 21: Ch 1, sc into the third loop of the same st as join and into the third loop of each st around – 100 scs
Fasten off.

Now I made this scarf with fringe on it but you do not need to, that’s entirely optional. Here’s a Wiki How on adding fringe or a YouTube video. Also, as you can see, this pattern is very simple and you would be able to add more rows as you would like, just keep repeating rows 2 – 9 and if you want to make it longer, it’s a simple multiple of 2 pattern (basically just keep your stitch count to even numbers and you’ll be set.) 😀 Pin this pattern for later here.
