The Janice Bracelet Free Crochet Pattern – All the Pretty Bracelets!

[image description] a close up photo of a white woman's wrist, hand, and arm while wearing the Janice Bracelet in rainbow colors in front of a lawn and trees.

Hello again. 😀 I hope you had a great weekend and a fun holiday if you celebrate Easter. So this week I have another bracelet for you, it’s a cuff style bracelet that I hope you will like. I really appreciated the kind words and encouragement that I received from so many on the Janice Headband that thought I’d make something else in that line, a companion piece to the fun fan headband.

As you can see in the photos, this design works very well with a variety of colors, you can do 6 like I did in the rainbow one or 2 as I did in the purple/ beige one. I cannot wait to see what you call come up with.

You can purchase an ad-free downloadable pdf of this pattern in my Ravelry shop.

Materials:

Gauge:

  • 1″ x 1″ = 10 scs x 10 rows

Terms/stitches used:

  • Ch: Chain
  • St: Stitch
  • Sc: Single crochet
  • Dc: Double crochet

Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in 4 sections – the first is worked from the original chain row, the second is worked on the other side of that chain row, the third and fourth are the ends where the button and buttonhole are.
  • This pattern is worked back and forth in rows with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • When changing colors, just pull up the new color at the beginning of the row.
  • You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook.
  • The bracelets in the photos are done in different color schemes but the pattern is written in 2 colors (like the purple and beige bracelet).
  • For a rainbow version of this bracelet do colors in this order: Rows 1 – 2 yellow, Rows 3 – 4 orange, and Row 5 and then fasten off, flip and work into the other side of the bracelet, Rows 6 – 7 green, Rows 8 – 9 in blue, and Row 10 in purple.
  • If you would like to make this pattern larger or smaller, the button and buttonhole sections are the best places to do this, as you don’t have to worry about adding chains to the original chain row and instead can just add or subtract rows of single crochets on the ends.
  • When the instructions say sc around the chain from a row into the row below, basically you’re doing a spike sc.

Finished product dimensions:

Length: 7.5″  Height: just over 1.75″

Button hole section:
Row 1: Rotate the piece so that you’re working along the row ends (the single crochets). Create a slipknot on your hook with color B and sc into the 10 row ends – 10 scs
Rows 2 – 4: B: Ch 1, turn, sc into the next 10 sts – 10 scs
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc into the next 2 sts, ch 6, skip the next 6 sts, sc into the last 2 sts – 4 scs
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc into the next 2 sts, sc 6 times into the ch-6 space, sc into the last 2 sts – 10 scs
Row 7: Ch 1, turn, sc into the next 10 sts – 10 scs
Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Button section:

Row 1: Rotate the piece so that you’re working along the row ends opposite of where you created the button hole section. Create a slipknot on your hook with color A and sc into the 10 row ends – 10 scs
Rows 2 – 5: Ch 1, turn, sc into the next 10 sts – 10 scs
Fasten off leaving a long tail. I use the tail to attach the button on this side, it makes for fewer ends to weave in (which I always love, personally).

I love this pattern and would love to make in the rainbow style, if you could tell me what colour to use on what row I would really appreciate it... Thank you for sharing!

Hi! The pattern is written for the 2 color bracelet but if you'd like to make it in 6 colors, just split up each side into 3 colors. Just start from the center out, changing colors every 2 rows (yellow, orange, and red on side one, green, blue, and purple on side two).

I hope that helps. -Amber

Ok, so I'm kInda new to crocheting, and I'm struggling with this pattern. I started and restarted numerous times, always with the same outcome. At this point - skip the next 3 sts, sc into the next 7 sts - the problem I encounter is that I don't have 7 sts, I only have 3. Ok so confused by this, and I'm hoping someone can help me understand. I went to YouTube in hopes of finding a video, as visual is always better for me than written, but no luck.

Anyway, thank you in advance,

Ericka

Hi! What row are you having trouble with? Make sure your original chain row has the correct number of stitches, if you are short stitches you might not be count correctly or you're skipping the wrong number of stitches. I hope that helps.

I think this bracelet is very pretty, and I'm trying to make one now. I'm a bit confused by the pattern however. It says to chain 77 at the beginning, but row 1 does not seem to use or skip 77 chains. I see it uses 12 chains before the repeat. The repeat section uses just 8 chains and gets done a total of 5 times - for a total of 40 chains used. The final section uses just 10 more chains. That's a total of 62 chains used. Are there supposed to be leftover chains at the end of row 1? Does the pattern really require only 62 chains? Should the pattern have more repeats in row 1? Any input will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The ch-77 at the beginning was from the early draft of this design, before I added more scs on the buttonhole and button sections. Sorry about that. I updated the pattern to reflect the correct beginning chain. :)

Take care, Amber
