Hello everyone, I’m back again this week! I completely forgot that I had a second post or else I would have posted this on Tuesday. 😀 But no worries. Today’s post is for a Charity Scarf Drive hosted by Blackstone Designs. Many great and talented designers have participated in the weeks past and this week is my turn and I’m so happy to be included. If you’re interested be sure to check out the information in the group, here, and that way you can get caught up on some of the previous posts! Anyway… the scarf I designed for today is fun but very time consuming, I started working on it in September so I had enough time. But the fun thing about it is, that you can customize it as you want. Don’t want to make a cowl? No worries! You can make this a traditional long scarf by repeating the pattern I’ve written out as many times as you would like! The notes also discuss how to adjust the width, which is super simple because it’s a multiple of 12.
I hope that you give this scarf a try and have fun with it. I love the way it turned out, personally, and I hope you do too.

Materials:
- US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
- Worsted/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
- 2 oz/ 123 yards
- I used Red Heart Super Saver
- 2 colors
- Yarn needle
- Measuring tape
Gauge:
- G: 4.5” x 4.5” = 19 dcs x 9 rows
Terms/ stitches used:
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Sc: single crochet
Notes:
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
- This pattern is worked back and forth with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row.
- This pattern is worked from the bottom up.
- All of the stitches in this pattern are single crochets, because of this the instructions only tells you how many stitches to do in what color, this is what the number in the parenthesis means.
- The finished item might be a big misshapen and the sides might curl (mine did) so you’re probably going to need to block this before you hang it.
- The inactive yarn yarn is carried under the active yarn, but bobbins were used. The orange yarn was the only yarn carried through the pattern, I used bobbins for the yellow, black and green colors. Here’s a great tutorial on color changes.
- Also check out this post about tapestry crochet from Moogly, it’s helpful.
- Color A is pink and color B is white.
- The graph for the pattern is above, but only in 24 sts, not the 36 that the pattern is written for.
- The multiple for this pattern is 6, basically 12 if you want to keep with the design I have here.
- I made a cowl out of this design but you can totally make a long, traditional scarf, at any length you’d like. Add fringe too!
- To make the scarf as you see in the photos on me, just follow the instructions below without any adjustments.
- I crochet really tight, feel free to use a larger hook and make this a looser knit.
Finished measurements:
- Height: 8″
- Diameter: 19″
