Hi everyone! Who’s excited for June’s TSAP post? I know I am! This is one of my favorites this year. It was a complicated one to make, with all the colors that I used, but it paid off big time because I love both sides of this square. All the difficulties in this square lie in the 7 different colors you are using at once – I did carry the color A through but dropped the colors as I worked my way across the square.
I really can’t wait to see how people work up this pattern & if you save the square for the blanket or if you make something like a bag out of the squares. I love afghan square bags 😀 They’re so cute!
In other news, I do have an extra 4-pack for this CAL that you an purchase in my Ravelry shop. It’s my Amber’s Favorites Pack and it includes a skull, an avocado, a cupcake, and a burger square. I thought it’d be fun to release a pack of squares you could add to the TSAP squares on my blog (although this is not necessary, you can still use all 12 from my blog and have an awesome blanket). These 4 only add some more whimsy to the project. There will be another 4-pack in October, so keep an eye out for that!
I hope you’re having fun with this CAL! I know I am 😀
If you appreciate my weekly patterns I hope you’d consider purchasing an ad-free pdf of this pattern for $1.75 in my Ravelry shop.

Materials
- US H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
- Aran/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
- 1 oz. / 55 yards
- At least 7 colors
- I used Caron One Pound
- Yarn needle
Gauge
- 16 rows x 15 scs = 4”
Terms/stitches used
- RS: right side
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Slip st: slip stitch
- Sc: single crochet
Notes
- This pattern is worked flat back and forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row, from the bottom up.
- This square measures about 7.5″ unblocked and will come out with 8″ with a sc border (explained below). The photos do not feature a border.
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
- The use of bobbins like they did on Hodgepodge Crochet is suggested for this pattern.
- Your square may need some light blocking.
- You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
- In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
- Color A is off-white (Caron One Pound in Off-White), color B is purple (misc stash color), color C is blue (misc stash color), color D is green (misc stash color), color E is yellow (misc stash color), color F is orange (misc stash color), and color G is red (misc stash color).
