Gorgeous in Gingham – the Pretty in Gingham Cup Cozy free crochet pattern

The Pretty in Gingham Mug Cozy free crochet pattern by DivineDebris.com

Hello! How’s your week going so far? This week’s new design is the Pretty in Gingham Mug Cozy, and it’s simple because I’m so busy I wanted to make something simple and easy for me and for you. Who else is surprised January is almost over and you already feel a bit burnt out? Or is it just me? Also, who doesn’t love gingham? It’s super cute, fun, and you could make this cozy in colors to match the seasons or special occasions or even sports teams.
This design is another easy tapestry pattern for you to work on your skills or give the technique a try if you still haven’t.

I hope you have a great week and give this design a shot. I hope you like the new cat ami that will be out next week. Take care of yourself out there <3

You can purchase a copy of the Pretty in Gingham Mug Cozy pattern in my Ravelry shop to help me continue to bring you weekly patterns.

Materials

  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Aran/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
    • .5 oz/ 31 yds
    • I used Loops and Threads Impeccable
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • 16 scs x 14 rows = 4″

Terms/ stitches

  • RS: right side (side that faces out)Ravelry link
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • BLO: back loop only

Notes

  • This pattern is worked in the round, from the bottom up, with a slip st into the first st of the row.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • All of the stitches in this pattern are single crochets. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many single crochets to make.
  • In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out this helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
  • You need to know how to work into the back loop only (BLO) for this pattern. At the end of the row, slip st into both loops, this will help keep your seam straight.
  • If you don’t work this pattern in the back loop only, it might end up leaning. You can block the finished item to make it lean less.
  • In the photos: color A is gray (Vanna’s Choice Yarn in Charcoal Gray), and color B is pink (Vanna’s Choice Yarn in Raspberry).

Finished measurements

  • Height: 3″
  • Diameter: 4.5″
