Happy Tuesday! I hope you’re doing well today because I am… mostly because I couldn’t wait to release this pattern! I love the fun design and I think it’s perfect for the Winter/ Holiday season because it really does scream December to me. Doesn’t it scream that to you?
With this design I wanted to make something that resembled pulled candy, the fun kind you can get around this time of year. I only stuck to 2 colors but I bet you could use a ton or even a variegated yarn to really make this design fun!
Either way, I hope you like this pattern. I included 4 sizes so I hope one of them works for you.
You can purchase an ad-free pdf of this pattern in my Ravelry shop.
Materials:
- US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
- Worsted/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
- 2 oz. + – / 104 + – yards
- I used Red Heart Super Saver
- Yarn needle
Gauge:
- 4″ = 15 scs x 14 rows (BLO)
Terms/ stitches:
- Ch: Chain
- St: Stitch
- RS: Right side
- Slip st: Slip stitch
- Sc: Single crochet
- BLO: Back loop only
- Join: Join with a slip st
- Fcs: Reverse single crochet (explained below)
Notes:
- Forward crab stitch (Fcs): Insert your hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, turn your hook clockwise once so you twist the stitch, yarn over, pull through the 2 loops on your hook. Also called a Twisted Single Crochet. This stitch is like a crab stitch, only you work it forward.
- This pattern is worked in 2 sections: the Band, which is back and forth, and then seamed (1st row to the last). The Cuff, which is worked along one of the edges of the band, worked in the round with a slip st into the first st of the row.
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- If you don’t work this pattern in the BLO, it might end up leaning. You can block the finished item to make it lean less.
- Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions for the graphing rows will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
- In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
- Red Heart Super Saver was used. Color A is black, color B is white, and color C is red.
