This is just a quick photo tutorial on how to make the spike cluster single crochet that I use in my Sandra Cowl.

The spike cluster st is like a sc 3 stitches together but you’re working into lower rows than you would in a normal decrease.

Step 1: identify the stitches you’re supposed to work into. The orange arrows show you which stitches you work into the spike sc as described here.

Step 2: yarn over, insert hook into the first space you identified and pull up a loop to the height of your current row. 2 loops remain on hook.

Step 3: yarn over, insert hook into the next space you identified and pull up a loop to the height of your current row. 3 loops remain on hook.

Step 4: yarn over, insert hook into the next space you identified and pull up a loop to the height of your current row. 4 loops remain on hook.

Step 5: yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Step 6: work the rest of the row as the pattern describes.
