Happy Monday! Or are Mondays not your thing to celebrate? Today is, after all, St. Patrick’s Day… so there’s a thing to celebrate. If you’re into that sort of thing. Do you need something fun to go with your St. Paddy’s Day festivities? Or just want to add a “just in case” applique to your collection? Remember the seasonal earrings I made last year? You know, the shamrocks and pilsner guys… well here’s a pattern so you can make your own: (Also, sorry I didn’t post this earlier for those of you who like to plan)
Materials:
- U.S. G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
- Worsted weight yarn
- Yarn needle
Gauge:
- 4.5” x 4.5” = 19 dcs x 9 rows
(although it’t not entirely critical)
Terms/ stitches used:
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Slip st: slip stitch
- Sc: single crochet
- Dc: double crochet
- Tr: treble crochet
Pattern instructions:
Pilsner:
with U.S. G crochet hook:
You’ll need less than .5 oz of yarn- white, yellow (or green/ brown), silver
Row 1: Ch 5, sc in second ch from hook, sc across – 4 scs
Row 2: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 4 scs
Row 3: Turn, ch 1, Sc first 2 scs together – 3 scs
Rows 4 – 6: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 3 scs
Row 7: Turn, ch 2, 2 sc into first St, sc, 2 sc into last St – 5 scs
Row 8: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 5 scs
Row 9: Turn, ch 2, 2 sc in first St, sc across, 2 sc in last St – 7 scs
Rows 10 – 13: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 7 scs
White yarn: Row 14: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 7 scs
Fasten off, weave in your ends.
Edging:
With Gray: Beginning in one corner of the white, sc in each st down the side, ch 1, sc across the bottom, ch 1, up the other side – 32 scs
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
* Do not sc across the top row of white *
For St. Pat’s I paired the pilsner with a 3 leaf clover and attached it to a green bow (see left). However, I’m sure this sort of thing could be used for a lot of things, like a bachelorette party or something where you’d need beer. 😀
For the shamrock:
Row 1: Chain 9, sc into second ch from hook sc into the next 6 chs, DC into last ch -7 scs, 1 dc
Leaves: Ch 1, sl St into DC, below horizontal threads, *ch 4, Tr 4 times into dc, ch 4, sl St into dc again* repeat from * to * this 3 more times
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Again, I wish I was more consistent with my updates but I just don’t know what to talk about. I’ve been a little blue these last couple of weeks and it’s made it even harder for me to be interested in doing much of anything. I’m still working on stuff, just finished a Willow sack variation and the Roxanne hat, and getting a couple of more summer type of items going- hopefully should get ’em done soon.

What about the pattern for the bow they are attached to?

The bow is just a basic hdc bow- did like 5 rows of 40 hdcs in the round and then wrapped it in the center with yarn. I didn't make a how-to on that because there are so many already out there. :)
