Hello! How are you doin’ on this lovely Thursday? I’m alright, multitasking. I’ve got my Chloe Cowl scarf testing, which seems to be going well and hopefully it’ll be out sometime next week. I’m finishin’ up my giveaway offerings for Mad Mad Me‘s rainbow themed giveaway- I’m giving a rainbow Leah bracelet, a bib rainbow necklace, which I’ve thought about writing the pattern up for but I’m not sure if I should, and a rainbow Heather headband. Also I’ve got a shawl/wrap pattern I’m working on that will be ready to test soon. I have all the fun, right? Unfortunately, I’ve had a hard time shaking that post vacation thing, where I’m not ready to get moving and be productive. It’s been quite annoying, really. But I’ll be ok. It was a good vacation.
So, anyway, I designed the Leah bracelet last month and meant to post it as a free pattern some time ago, but I didn’t sit down and write out the pattern until I worked up the rainbow version for the giveaway, for the ones in the pictures here I just created ’em from memory. Actually, when I sat down to make the rainbow one I had to frog it, after it was finished, because I realized I did it wrong. Ha! It’s not a difficult pattern, you just need to be sure you’re working into the same stitches and keep an even tension throughout the chain into chain rows. It gives it great texture. I’m thinking about making a necklace, a headband and a scarf with this pattern. My mind is always going, I just wish I knew where.

And for the pattern:
Materials:
*2.25mm crochet hook
*Size 10 crochet thread (in as many or as few colors as you would like)
*1 or 2 buttons
*a needle for weaving in ends
Notes:
*This bracelet is worked in 3 parts. The first is the main body, which is composed of the sc & ch/slip st rows. The other two parts are on the ends of the main body, just scs into the ends of the sc rows.
*Try to maintain an even tension in the chain into chain sections, as too loose or too tight might be noticeable in the finished outcome- but that might not be a bad thing if you want the individual rows to have a lot of movement independent of each other row. Your call, really.
Finished measurements:
This is for the pattern as written.
*Length: 7″
*Width: 1.5″
Pattern:
Main body:
Row 1: Ch 61, slip st into the front loop only of the next 60 sts – 60 slips sts
Note: If you change colors on row 2, you don’t need to ch 61, just ch 60 and change colors on row 2.
Row 2: Turn, sc into the loops of the top slip st (the ones you made on the last row), only for the next 5 sts, ch 50, sc into the loops of the top slip
st for the last 5 sts – 10 scs, 50 sts
Row 3: Turn, slip st into the front loops only of the next 60 sts – 60 slip sts
Rows 4 – 19: repeat rows 2 – 3, 8 more times.
Row 10: repeat row 2.
Fasten off.
Second part:
Now you’ll need to turn the piece and work into the ends of the previous rows. (see photo on the right)
Row 1: Pull up a loop in the first sc of the edge, and sc into each sc across – 10 scs
Rows 2 – 6: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 10 scs
Fasten off.
Third part:
Rotate the piece to the unworked edge of the rows from the main body of the bracelet.
Row 1: Pull up a loop in the first sc of the edge, and sc into each sc across – 10 scs
Rows 2 – 6: Turn, ch 1, sc across – 10 scs
1 buttonhole: Row 7: Turn, ch 1, sc into the first 2 sts, ch 6, skip 6 sts, sc into the last 2 sts – 4 scs
2 buttonholes: Row 7: Turn, ch 1, sc into the first 2 sts, ch 6, skip 2 sts, sc into the next 2 sts, ch 6, skip 2 sts, sc into the last 2 sts – 6 scs
Fasten off.
You’ll need to attach a button to the second part of the bracelet, wherever you want that gives you the room you desire. Weave in all your ends. Once that is all complete, your bracelet is ready to be shown off. Add this pattern to your Ravelry queue here.
I hope you like this pattern. I’ve got some more free pattern ideas in the works as well as paid patterns. Recently I did a flash, like 24 hour, giveaway of a paid pattern on my FB page and gave away 5 free patterns to fans. You might want to check out my page for the next giveaway, which might happen soon. I also plan on a giveaway for the Chloe Cowl. So much fun to be had, ya know?
Anyway, take care and I’ll see you when I get my Citrus Barefoot Sandals pattern ready to post.
