Free Sophie Scarf Crochet Pattern – Make a Colorful Point

Do you have any Fall traditions? I love to open the windows and let in the cooler outside temperatures, I pull some blankets out of storage, and I light some pumpkin smelling candles. Oh, and I love to make a scarf! Like this week’s new Sophie Scarf crochet pattern.

If you’re me, one of the first things you ever crocheted was a scarf. I made so many scarves, long ones with tassels, the “potato chip” ones that were super popular for a minute, and even some really simple cowls. And when I lived in New York I was pretty much never without a scarf. I had one on every time I left the house from October to March. Now, in Southern California that’s not as common but I still love to make one and I really hope you like this week’s new scarf.

With the Sophie Scarf crochet pattern I wanted to combine simple textures but kinda make it fun – that’s why it goes from a point to another point in the design. I also didn’t’ want to leave those points without tassels, because I love a good tassel. Both the extended single crochet and the crossed double crochet stitches are so easy to do but they’re also so textured. It’s right in that sweet spot of things I like – textured and simple. And of course, you can adjust this pattern as you’d like to make it longer or shorter. I want a scarf I could wrap around my neck and have enough left over to dangle but if you want shorter, feel free.

Overall, I hope you like this new scarf and give it a try. Maybe Sophie here will be your new favorite Fall accessory.
Don’t forget to wash and wear your masks and be kind. Have a happy Halloween season.

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for the purposes of designing the Sophie Scarf crochet pattern, without compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but I really like this yarn. I used it to design my Britta Pullover and intend to use it in the future more as it’s a great dk weight yarn.

Fasten off, weave in your ends. Block your scarf so it’s 8″ x 37″. Move onto the Tassels.

Tassels
Make 40 lengths of yarn at about 10” each. Loop 10 pieces of yarn through one of the end sts on Row 184, folding the bundle of yarn in half at the center (this makes the tassel about 5” long), and then loop another 10 pieces through the other st on Row 184. When you have all 20 pieces looped through and folded in half on Row 184, hold them tight in one hand and tie an additional piece of yarn around the 2 bundles, about .5” – 1” down from the fold, to finish your tassel. Trim and block as you’d like with your tassel. Repeat tassel instructions on the 2 sts from Row 1.
