Free Moon Phase Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern

Learn to make the Moon Phase Wall Hanging, perfect for your space loving friend or yourself, from a free crochet graph by Divine Debris. Great for all fiber arts.

Happy Summerween! Which, if you’re not familiar, means it’s a little bit of Halloween during the hot months of the year to get you through to when real Halloween happens. And to kick off season, I’ve the brand new Moon Phase Wall Hanging for y’all.

I know this pattern isn’t exactly Halloween-y but I started on it a few months ago and then other designs came up, namely Pride month, so I had to put it to the side. I hated that because I really was liking how the pattern worked up and at that point I didn’t even get to the fringe, which I think adds a lot of fun to the finished design. But finally I get to share it!

Like nearly all my other wall hanging patterns, the Moon Phase Wall Hanging is worked from the bottom up in rows of single crochet stitches. Using Stitch Fiddle I designed this pattern to be worked as you’d like – you can carry and crochet over the 2 colors or you can use bobbins of separate colors, which I did you can see a photo below or see this video on IG on how I turn the project. It’s totally up to you which technique you use, I just suggest you block the finished pattern for the best look.

Below the graph is available to view, that way if you’d like to make this as sc or hdc or dc you can do it… but you can also make it in C2C if you want to work the graph on a bias. And if you’d prefer you can knit, Tunisian crochet , and even cross stitch this design using the graph as well. It’s entirely up to you 😀 I used gray and white for my colors but you can customize as you’d with blues or purples or whatever you have in your stash (use that stash friends!). And in keeping with industry standards, if you’d like written instructions to this pattern you can pick those up in my Ravelry shop (it’s written in back and forth rows so it won’t help you with C2C). I know talking about money makes people uncomfortable but I split up these patterns this way so that people do have an incentive to pick up the pdf, it helps me to keep making patterns here on my blog. I hope you understand.

Now that we’re in Summerween I have all my Halloween and Fall patterns in my Ravelry shop for 50% off, no coupon code needed (just add the patterns to your cart to see the prices). Don’t miss out 😀 It’s a great time to start a skull cardigan IMO.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog, I hope you like this new pattern 🙂

Please note: I was provided the yarn for this pattern by Lion Brand Yarn for other personal projects, just to make something fun and without compensation. I wasn’t provided the yarn with the expectations of positive or negative reviews but I’ve used Basic Stitch yarn many times over the years and it’s fantastic. A great worsted weight yarn, I’ll probably keep using it for years to come. This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase yarn through any of the links in this post, I may be compensated. Do not make videos from my pattern, you don’t have permission even if this pattern is free.

Notes

  • As is industry standard, this pattern is just a free graph and not written instructions but you can purchase the pattern for a fee in my Ravelry shop.
  • Begin with a ch 92 in color A, turn, and start in the 2nd ch from the hook. Each row begins with a “ch 1, turn” and all st counts are 91 sc for the graphed portion.
  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up, row by row with a turn at the beginning of the rows. A border is then added and worked in the round around the graphed portion.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
  • If you’re going to make the 2 layer fringe, you’re going to either want to make the first row with a foundation single crochet row or work into the back bumps of your foundation chain so that you have 2 loops left over for the fringe.
  • I worked this design using bobbins/ intarsia the whole way. I didn’t carry the yarn across but you can if you’d like, it’s entirely up to you.
  • Blocking is suggested for this pattern.
  • In the photos: Color A is gray (Charcoal Heather) and color B is white. Basic Stitch was used for all colors.
