Happy last day of Summerween everyone! I mean, sure Summerween is always in my heart (and hopefully yours as well if you’re here checking out my pattern) but today is the last day of July and that means my Halloween in July/ Summerween has come to an end. But not before one last pattern – the Beach Ghost Wall Hanging.
My other wall hanging this month, the Moon Phase Wall Hanging, wasn’t quite Halloween-y so I thought it’d be fun to make one more Halloween and when I sat down to work in it, it ended up being more Summerween than I expect. It’s a bit silly, wouldn’t you say? But still fun, which is the important part IMO.
Like nearly all my other wall hanging patterns, the Beach Ghost Wall Hanging is worked from the bottom up in rows of single crochet stitches. Using Stitch Fiddle I designed this pattern and this is a great stash buster (or at least was for me). I used all the random bits of yarn I had in my stash to create a summer vibe of a ghost at the beach eating an ice cream. So many tans! I didn’t realize I had so many. Ha. But most importantly, I used as many bobbins/ intarsia as I could, I really didn’t crochet over much yarn.
Below the graph is available to view, that way if you’d like to make this as sc or hdc or dc you can do it… but you can also make it in C2C if you want to work the graph on a bias. And if you’d prefer you can knit, Tunisian crochet , and even cross stitch this design using the graph as well. It’s entirely up to you 😀
And in keeping with industry standards, if you’d like written instructions to this pattern you can pick those up in my Ravelry shop (it’s written in back and forth rows so it won’t help you with C2C). I know talking about money makes people uncomfortable but I split up these patterns this way so that people do have an incentive to pick up the pdf, it helps me to keep making patterns here on my blog. I hope you understand.
Today is the last day to get my Summerween sale – all Halloween and Fall patterns in my Ravelry shop for 50% off, no coupon code needed (just add the patterns to your cart to see the prices). Don’t miss out 😀 It’s a great time to start a skull cardigan IMO.
I hope you’re staying hydrated and enjoying the summer as best you can. It’s not my season, so I do my best. Ya know? I hope you like this new design. Thank you for checking it out <3

- Begin with a ch 63 in color A, turn, and start in the 2nd ch from the hook. Each row begins with a “ch 1, turn” and all st counts are 62 sc for the graphed portion.
- This pattern is worked from the bottom up, row by row with a turn at the beginning of the rows.
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
- If you’re going to make the 2 layer fringe, you’re going to either want to make the first row with a foundation single crochet row or work into the back bumps of your foundation chain so that you have 2 loops left over for the fringe.
- I worked this design using bobbins/ intarsia the whole way. I didn’t carry the yarn across but you can if you’d like, it’s entirely up to you (might be bulky).
- Blocking is suggested for this pattern.
- In the photos: Stash colors were used in various worsted weight yarns. color A is blue, color B is off-white, color C is brown, color D is white, color E is tan, color F is red, color G is orange, color H is bright yellow, color I is black, color J is medium brown, color K is purple, color L is pink, color M is medium yellow, color N is light green, and color O is dark green.
