Free Colorful Chevrons Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern

[Image description] The Colorful Chevrons Wall Hanging hangs on a hook on a fence.

So who else is enjoying this lovely warm July weather? Here in SoCal we’ve had some really high temps and I have to be honest with you, it’s taking a lot of my “let’s make some pretty stuff with yarn” desires right away. That’s why when planning this month’s patterns I decided that it would be a great time to make some more home decor, in this week’s Colorful Chevrons Wall Hanging crochet pattern.

Now if you’ve been around here before, you know that I love a good wall hanging. And in the last few yeas I’ve been doing a few tapestry ones (more than a few if we’re honest) and I’ve had so much fun making them. Only… I realized that they probably aren’t for everyone. Graphs and color work don’t have huge broad appeal, which I totally get. So to switch things up a bit this month, I came up with something more people would be interested in making (hopefully) and it’s got chevrons. Who wouldn’t love that?

While brain storming on the Colorful Chevrons Wall Hanging I immediately knew I wanted to make something with colors. This year I’ve been trying pretty hard to stash bust as much as I can. I liked using the yarn I have on hand (which is a lot tbh) and this was a great excuse to use a couple colors and see how they work out. And chevrons with colors, they just go together. So once I got the colors figured out it was all a matter of deciding on the texture, and that wasn’t hard at all because you’re gonna see some of my favorite stitches here.

Ok, now I’m rambling a bit but I can’t wait to unleash this design to the world. I think it’s a fun tons of room for customization. I added tassels and pom poms to this design because I really wanted the whole thing to really pop but you don’t have to. Or you could do fringe all along the bottom or even the top (by the stick, wouldn’t that be cute). Change up the colors or add more. Ooh you could make it really long so it’s super dramatic and eye catching. See? I’m just thinking of ideas as I type this up, but there are so many ways to make this uniquely yours. I hope to see them 🙂

Anyway, I hope you’re doing well. It’s been a rough one for me lately, mental health wise, and I bet I’m not alone in that. Please take care of yourselves and your community. And wash your hands, wear your masks, and support queer people any time of year <3 <3

Hi! I purchased your Colorful Chevrons pattern off Ravelry. I'm confused on your instructions for the BTLO. First it says to tilt toward you and see the 3rd loop on the BACK of the HDC and work into that, but then in the "Please note" it says the 3rd loop will be facing you. Typically, I've done this stitch into the 3rd loop, facing me and that side is the "wrong side" of the piece so the design that sticks out is on the "right side"

Anyway, I just want to clarify and it's a beautiful design! I can't wait to work on it!

@Divine Debris, Thank you for your response. I think the reason I got so thrown off is that the first row into the chain - in this pattern "Row 1" and the odd rows, would typically be the "right side" but I guess you designed it as the other way around. I thought my brain was melting down. Which is also totally possible. Anyway, thank you for taking the time. I appreciate it!

Hi! I describe the stitch and how to find the back loop from the RS because that's the RS of the hdc and I find that easiest for descriptions but I add the note that the loop will be facing you when you work into it so that people will know where to find the BTLO. For the pattern itself, you will be working it as you describe, the RS is even numbered rows and so when you work into the BTLO it will be the odd numbered rows, making the texture you create with the st visible on the RS. Which is what you describe as what you do :) I hope that helps. Take care, Amber
