Hey, everyone! How are you doing this week? I had a half exciting and half exhausting weekend. This move feels like everything is just rushing at us so fast and I want to get it done in as much time as possible but then it feels like there is never enough time to get everything done. Do you ever feel like that? It’s almost too much for me but that’s probably just my normal levels of stressed out or anxiety ridden me reacting to change. Ok, so enough about how stressed out I feel… because this basket makes me feel happy. I think it’s the colors. I love color, as you might have guessed, and I love to brighten up my house with fun crochet designs with color to put a smile on my face. Are you like that? Do you like to decorate with the purpose of cheering yourself up? And I’ve always responded to colors, I love painting rooms with calming tones to keep me from feeling like I’m spiraling out of control. And in college I loved my color theory class, learning about how other people used color, how people use color, and even the creation of colors. So interesting. Wow, I’m a nerd. :p
So this week’s design is a new one in the ever expanding Pretty in Gingham line – which started with the Laura Cowl I made forever ago, which I totally still love. Most recently I made the Pretty in Gingham mug cozy – if you follow me on social media at all you will know I love a good mug cozy, I take one with me any time I leave the house just in case I might need a coffee or something while I’m out. They’re cute and reusable, so I prefer them to the cardboard sleeves. I even use them on my personal mugs too. 🙂 This week’s design is right in line with everything I love – bright colors, fun pattern, and super useful – I’ve seriously got crochet baskets all over my house, holding odds and ends.
I hope you love this design as much as I do and make some for yourself or for someone who might love it too.

See ya next week!

Ravelry link

  • This pattern is worked in 3 sections, from the bottom up: the bottom, the sides, and the handles and they’re all worked in the round, with a slip st into the first st of the row.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • All of the stitches in this pattern are single crochets. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many single crochets to make.
  • In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out this helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
  • You need to know how to work into the back loop only (BLO) for this pattern. At the end of the row, slip st into both loops, this will help keep your seam straight.
  • If you don’t work this pattern in the back loop only, it might end up leaning. You can block the finished item to make it lean less.
  • In the photos: color A is off white (Caron One Pound in Off White), color B is blue (Caron One Pound in Agua), color C is pink (Caron One Pound in Dark Pink), and color D is yellow (Caron One Pound in Sunflower).

Finished measurements

  • Height: 4.5″ (base to top of basket, not including handles)
  • Diameter: 8.75″
