So… it’s happening! The Fall is coming, eventually.
Here where I live now in SoCal the weather is still dancing around between a 80° to 100° but I’m pretending that Fall is in the air. I’m going to get out some cinnamon candles and I’ve already watched Practical Magic once. If you’ve been following my blog or me on FB or IG you know that Fall is my favorite time of the year. I just love all the scents, the foods, the festivities (apple festivals, anyone?), and, of course, Halloween. October is also my birth month so I’ve always felt a special connection to the Fall. This year, with all the ups and downs of my life, I’m really excited to dig into my favorite time of year so I’m not waiting any longer. Who’s ready to ride this heat wave into the Fall with me?
This week’s design is the first I’m going to be bringing to you that show off my undying love for Fall! And it’s also pretty good for those of you who love the Summer and don’t want to give it up yet (which I totally get, I hate when Christmas stuff starts replacing Fall in the stores). Apples are a safe and easy Fall design to start with, right? Who doesn’t love a crisp apple, any time of year? Probably people with allergies but luckily that’s not a concern here. Also, you might have noticed, I’m totally branching out here (no apple tree pun intended) and adding bobbles to my tapestry design! I did it with my Be Kind Wall-Hanging and I loved the look and the texture so much I had to use them again. I hope you love the effect here in this basket. I love how the apple, stem, and leaf really POP.

Materials
- US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
- Aran/ medium/ size #4 weight yarn
- approx 6.5 oz/ 330 yds
- 3 colors
- I used Caron One Pound & others
- Yarn needle
Gauge
- 18 rows x 16 sc = 4”
Terms/ stitches
- RS: right side (side that faces out)
- R: round
- Magic Circle
- Ch: chain
- St: stitch
- Slip st: slip stitch
- Sc: single crochet
- Hdc: half double crochet
- Bbl: bobble stitch
- Rsc: reverse single crochet
Notes
- This pattern is worked in 2 sections, from the bottom up: the base and the sides, which are both worked in the round, with a slip st into the first st of the row.
- The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- The stitches in the sides portion are a combination of single crochets and bobble stitches. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many single crochets/ bobble sts to make. EX: B: (1, *Bbl, 1,* repeat from * to * 3 more times) means sc, bobble, sc, bobble, sc, bobble, sc, bobble, sc in the B color (total of 9 sts). Rounds with just A: (10) mean just single crochets are worked.
- There is a turn at the beginning of each round of the sides. This will help keep your seam straight & make sure your bobbles are all facing the correct direction.
- Both * and [ ] denote when you repeat a segment. Some rows have both.
- In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out this helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
- You will need to know how to work into the back third loop a half double crochet for this pattern.
- In the photos: color A is off white (Caron One Pound in Off-White 3.5 oz/ 177 yds), color B is off red (Impeccable in Cherry about 2.5 oz/ 158 yds), and color C is green (Vanna’s Choice in Olive about .5 oz/ 24 yds).

Hi! I'm so glad you like this basket. I do not have a design with cherries on it at this time but I hope to some time in the future :D

I love this basket! I am a big cherry fan and was wondering if you happen to have a design with cherries on it? (be it a basket, square, anything) Thank you.
