Hello again! In addition to the guest hosting of the Pin-spiration Party, I’m bringing you a free pattern. I posted photos of it on IG and FB yesterday and Sunday, so you may not be very surprised to learn that today’s pattern is another free boot cuff pattern. I love boot cuffs, don’t you? They’re awesome. I love that when I make one for the example I get to keep them. I currently have 7 pairs of boot cuffs, all different styles. That includes all the ones that have been released, free and paid, and the currently being tested Josephine Boot Cuffs. I don’t care what the haters say, I love my boot cuffs and I wear them all season long.

I’m also still pretty sick. I was getting better, at least I felt better, over the week but Sunday the hubs and I traveled to Greensboro, NC to see/ hear Bernie Sanders talk and I guess my weakened immune system being exposed to so many people wasn’t good. By the time we got home, I was worse than I had been and have what I’ve self diagnosed as a chest cold. Boo. But the husband has said my voice sounds has a nasally Kathleen Turner thing going on, so that’s cool. I got the pattern for these worked out on the drive to the event, so I was prepared for today in advance and my cold couldn’t stop the new pattern release. 😀
Also, these are in the Diana Line, so if you like this design check out the cowl, bag, mug cozies and tote with the same stitch combo.

Materials:

  • US K (6.50 mm) crochet hook
  • US G (4.25 mm) crochet hook
  • Worsted weight/ size #4 yarn
    • I used Michael’s Loops and Threads
    • 2 colors 1.5 oz – 2.5 oz/ 89 – 148.5 yards
  • Tapestry/ yarn needleRavelry link

Gauge:

  • K: 5.5” x 5.5” = 9 rows x 18 dcs
  • G: 4.5” x 4.5” = 19 dcs x 9 rows

Terms/ stitches used:

  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Hdc: half double crochet

Notes:

  • You will need to know how to work into the back third loop of the hdc.
  • The ch 1 on the beginning some rows does not count as a stitch and helps to keep the seam from traveling.
  • This pattern is worked in two parts, the band and the top. The band is worked back and forth and the top is worked in the round.
  • The band is worked with the K hook to give it stretch and the top is worked with a G hook to keep the stitches looking neat.

Finished dimensions:

Next week I think I’m going to have a Halloween themed freebie for ya, but I just need to work up the pattern. At this time, it’s in my head but it looks cute, I’m tellin’ ya.
In other news, the cowl I was talking about last week is now named the Josephine Cowl and you can win a copy on my FB page right now. If you don’t want to try to win a copy, it’s on sale for $1.99. I’m working on boot cuffs and a hat to go with it. I really like this stitch combination.

Anyway, take care and have a good week!

Thanks for the free patternsi. Can't wait to make a pair for my granddaughter. You mentioned you have a weakened immune system. I have a weakened immune system also from lupus meds. I will have to take immunglobline for at least a year to try to build my system up. I was just wondering if u have the same thing? Tr

I'm so glad you like the pattern. :) I hope you share photos of the ones you make in the Ravelry listing for these. As I said in the post, I had a weakened immune system but that was from being sick for a couple of weeks before I went and got exposed to more people and their icky germs. <3 I hope you are well.

First thank you for the free patterns and beautiful work. Do I use the G hook for the kids and the K for the adults?

Oh, dear! I didn't realize that I forgot to include where to change hooks. It's updated now, but they K hook is for the band portion, so you get a good amount of stretch there, and the G is for the top (which shouldn't be as stretchy and maintain it's shape). I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions!
