Terms/stitches used:
- ch: chain
- slip st: slip stitch
- st: stitch
- sc: single crochet
- spike sc: spike single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- sc2tog: single crochet 2 together
- picot: picot
- dc: double crochet
- htr: half treble crochet
Notes:
- This pattern is worked from the bottom up and the eyes, wings and beak are all worked separately and then added to the main body later.
- The main body, eyes, and wings are worked in the round with a slip st into the first st of the row. The beak is worked back and forth in rows.
- The ch-1 at the beginning of rows does not count as a stitch.
- The spike single crochet is only worked in the previous row from the current row you’re on.
- Color A is bright green, color B is dark green, color C is medium green, color D is white, and color E is orange (on the green owl).
- Rotate on rows 5 – 7 means rotate the whole piece 90°.

Rows 2 – 4: A:Turn, ch 1, sc across – 16 scs
Row 5: A: Rotate, sc twice into next st, sc into next st, sc twice into next st, – 5 scs
Row 6: A: Rotate, sc across – 16 scs
Row 7: A: Rotate, sc twice into next st, sc into next st, sc twice into next st, slip st into first sc, slip st into the first sc of row 5 to secure – 5 scs
Row 8: A: Ch 1, * sc into next st, sc twice into next st * repeat from * to * all the way around, slip st into the first sc to secure – 63 scs
Rows 9 – 11: A: Ch 1, sc all the way around, slip st into the first sc to secure – 63 scs
Row 12: A: Ch 1,* sc into the next 8 sts, skip next st,* repeat from * to * the rest of the way around (note: this means you will be skipping the last st of the row and slip stitching to the first sc), slip st into the first sc to secure – 56 scs

To close: fold row 42 in half and work across the row into both the front and back stitches: sc into the next 5 sts, slip st into the next 14 sts, sc into the last 5 sts – 10 scs, 14 slip sts
Fasten off, weave in all your ends. Be sure to stuff your ami before finishing this row!

Row 1: D: Magic circle, sc 8 times into it – 8 scs
Row 2: D: Ch 1, sc into same st as join, sc twice into next st, *sc into the next st, sc twice into the next st,* repeat from * to * twice more, slip st into the first sc to secure- 12 scs
Row 3: D: Ch 1, sc into the same st as join, sc once into the next st, sc twice into the next st, *sc once into the next 2 sts, sc twice into the next st,* repeat from * to * twice more, slip st into the first sc to secure – 16 scs
Row 4: D: Ch 1, sc into the same st as join, sc once into the next 2 sts, sc twice into the next st, *sc once into the next 3 sts, sc twice into the next st,* repeat from * to * twice more, slip st into the first sc to secure – 20 scs
Row 5: D: Ch 1, sc twice into the same st as join, sc once into the next 4 sts, *sc twice into the next st, sc once into the next 4 sts,* repeat from * to * twice more, slip st into the first sc to secure – 24 scs

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the tail to secure your eyes to the body of your owl. Before you attach the eyes, be sure to attach buttons. You could also use puffy paint or yarn instead of the buttons. Sew the eyes to the top, near the spike sc rows.

Row 2: A: Ch 1, turn, sc into next 6 sts, rotate, 3 sc into the end, rotate, sc down the back of the, rotate, 3 sc into the next end, slip st into the first sc to secure- 18 scs
Row 3: A: Ch 1, sc twice into the same st as join, *sc twice into the next st,* repeat from * to * 16 more times, slip st into the first sc – 36 scs
Row 4: C: ch 1, sc into the same st as join and into each st around, slip st into the first sc -36 scs
Row 5: A: ch 1, sc into the first st, spike sc into the next st, *sc into the next st, spike sc into the next st,* repeat from * to * 7 more times, slip st into the first st – 36 scs
Fasten off color A.
Row 6: B: Ch 1, sc into the same st as join, sc into the next st, sc twice into the next st, *sc once into the next 2 sts, sc twice into the next st,* repeat from * to * 10 more times, slip st into the first st – 45 scs
Fasten off color B.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the tail to secure your wing to the body of your owl. Sew the wings to the sides with the tips angled inward.

Row 2: E: Turn, ch 1, sc into first two sts, sc2tog last two scs – 3 scs
Row 3: E: Turn, ch 1, sc into first st, sc2tog last two scs – 2 scs
Row 4: E: Turn, ch 1, sc2tog – 1 sc
Row 5: E: Turn, ch 1, sc- 1 sc
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the beak to secure your wing to the body of your owl.
Finishing: Secure the buttons to the eyes, you could also use puffy paint or yarn instead of the buttons. Sew the eyes to the top, near the spike sc rows. Sew the wings to the sides with the tips angled inward.
