Wow, it’s already the second Tuesday of the month! Where does the time go? With all my second Tuesdays of 2018, today’s post is another #2018TSAP square. I have been having a ball creating and releasing these squares but I don’t know how much everyone else is getting out of them. Do you want to see another year of them? Should I release more? Do you need ideas on what to make outside of an afghan?
My goal for this project was to get people excited about a technique that I just love and also give people a fun project to work on all year long that is challenging but not so much that it’s going to take you forever to complete. I asked recently on IG if people were enjoying the project or even doing it and I got many nos and that was super disappointing for me. I’ve put so much time and energy into this and I hate to feel like I’ve added nothing to the world. I want to make something beautiful, ya know?
I’d love to hear from you, if you’re working on this CAL, in the comments.

I’m thinking about releasing another combo pack for this CAL but if no on is interested, I might not.
Maybe I’ll have to make myself a new bag with some of these squares… hhmm… Who couldn’t use an avocado bag?

Terms/stitches used

  • RS: right side
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is worked flat back and forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row, from the bottom up.
  • This square measures about 7.5″ unblocked and will come out with 8″ with a sc border (explained below). The photos do not feature a border.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
  • The use of bobbins like they did on Hodgepodge Crochet is suggested for this pattern.
  • Your square may need some light blocking.
  • You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
  • In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
  • Color A is off-white (Caron One Pound in Off-White), and color B is green (Caron One Pound in Grass Green). Optional white for the spikes.

Optional
Cut tiny pieces of yarn and tie them around your stitches to create spikes. I didn’t want to make the spikes uniform so I just randomly attach them. You could also use surface crochet or use your needle and sew lines on the square to create the spikes.

My house is done in a western theme. I love this pattern and I plan on making this pattern as soon as I'm finished with 2 Christmas presents. Just because you received Alito of no's doesn't mean that you have other people that plan on making this afgan or a purse. I cant wait ti start on this as I have never done a tapestry pattern before Please dont stop working patterns up for the public. I would love to see more southwestern and western patterns. Thank you so much for this pattern!
