Free Willow Boot Cuffs Crochet Pattern

Another fun addition to the Willow line, crochet boot cuffs! I don’t know about you, I’ve not only noticed more people making and selling boot cuffs, but wearing them too! They add such a great something else to an outfit or make you look so ready for winter with no effort at all. With this easy to customize pattern, you’ll look great and be able to make some quick gifts for the holidays.

Materials:

  • 1.5 – 3 oz of worsted weight yarn
  • US K (6.00 mm) crochet hook
  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

  • K: 5.5” x 5.5” = 9 rows x 18 dcs
  • G: 4.5” x 4.5” = 19 dcs x 9 rows

Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in 2 sections: the band and the top. The band is worked flat, in rows back and forth with at turn at the beginn/ end of the row, which you then seam up by securing the first row to the last. The top is worked in the round along the edge of the band, with a slip st into the first st from the last.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch
  • The color changes for the 3 colors are noted in the pattern but you can change the colors as you like and create details to suit your own needs/desires.
  • The spike sc is also known as a long sc crochet. You work the spike sc over the sc from the previous row – this creates a very dense fabric.
  • With the way the color changes go in this pattern, you don’t have to fasten off between colors. You can just drop the color and pick up the next.
  • Colors in the main photo are – Color A is tan, color B is blue, and color C is mustard.

Finished product dimensions:

  • Child small: circumference: 7” – 8”, height: 2.5” – 3”
  • Child large: circumference: 8” – 9”, height: 3” – 3.5”
  • Adult extra small/ small: circumference: 12” – 13”, height: 3.5 – 4”
  • Adult medium/large: circumference: 13” – 14”, height: 3.5” – 4”

Pattern Instructions:
Sizing as follows:
child small (child large, adult extra small/ small, adult medium/ large)

For the band:

With K hook:

Row 1: A: Ch 7 (9 11, 11) sc into second ch from the hook – 6 (8, 10, 10) scs
Rows 2 – 24 (30, 44, 50): Turn, ch 1, sc across – 6 (8, 10, 10) scs

Fasten off. Secure row 1 to row 24 (30, 44, 50) with which ever seaming technique you’re comfortable with.

*Note: If you would like the band to be smaller, you can do fewer scs in row 1. Example: ch 9 and do 8 scs across.

Top:

*Note: This section is worked along the edge of the scs from the band.

With G hook:
Sizing as follows:
child small (child large, adult extra small/ small, adult medium/ large)

Rnd 1: A: Ch 1, sc into each st all the way around – 24 (30, 44, 50) scs
Rnd 2: B: Ch 1, sc into same st as join, spike sc into next st, *sc into next st, spike sc into next st,* repeat from * to * 10 (13, 20, 23) more times, slip st into first sc to secure – 12 (15, 22, 25) scs, 12 (15, 22, 25) spike scs
Rnd 3: Ch 1, spike sc into same st as join, sc into next st st, *spike sc into next st, sc into next st,* repeat from * to * 10 (13, 20, 23) more times, slip st into first spike sc to secure – 12 (15, 22, 25) spike scs, 12 (15, 22, 25) scs
Rnds 4 – 5: C: repeat rows 2 – 3 – 12 (15, 22, 25) spike scs, 12 (15, 22, 25) scs
Rnds 6 -7: A: repeat rows 2 – 3 – 12 (15, 22, 25) spike scs, 12 (15, 22, 25) scs
Fasten off for child small and child large. Weave in all your ends.
Rnds 8 – 9: B: repeat rows 2 – 3 – 22 (25) spike scs, 22 (25) scs
Rnds 10 – 11: C: repeat rows 2 – 3 – 22 (25) spike scs, 22 (25) scs
Fasten off for adult adult extra small/ small, adult medium/ large. Weave in all your ends.

Options: The fun thing about this pattern is that you can change the colors as you would like or add more rows to make the cuff taller or subtract rows to make it shorter. Or add a button. Just remember to have fun with it.
