Penguin Pal the Free Snowflake Penguin Crochet Amigurumi Pattern

Snowflake Penguin Ami crochet pattern by DivineDebris.com

Wow, it’s 2018 already, isn’t it? I might not be completely ready for this… time’s going by too fast it feels 😉 At least I’m starting the year strong with this super cute ami pattern. I love penguins, they’re so cute. I’m not joking, I have a sign on my wall that says “let it snow” and it has a cute penguin on it and it stays up year-round. I’m a weird person when you get to know me 😀

Like many of my other designs, this pattern can be adapted to fit what you’d like – such as adding more colors, make both pieces the front piece so that it’s got two different personalities… I was also thinking when I was seaming it up, that you could sew from the head rows start, down around the bottom, and to the other side where the head rows start and then add a strap and that’d make an adorable penguin purse for a kiddo. Or make this in cotton and for-go the stuffing and just seam together two pieces and have a super cute pot holder. I really hope that you find a lot of uses for this design. 😀

Terms/stitches used

  • RS: right side
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is worked flat back in forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row. The sides are worked from the bottom up.
  • This pattern is worked in 3 parts, the front (penguin face), back, and the edge to seam them together.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • You’re going to need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
  • Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
  • The instructions that read (sc2tog + a number) or (a number + sc2tog) mean that you sc2tog the first or last two sts of the row and work scs in the number of stitches indicated.
  • In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
  • Color A is blue (Caron One Pound in Aqua), color B is white (Caron One Pound in White), color C is orange Caron One Pound in Pumpkin), color D is green Caron One Pound in Green Grass), and color E is black Caron One Pound in Black).

Row 1: A: Ch 22, sc into the second ch from the hook and across – 21 scs

Note:

  • Every stitch is a single crochet, because of this the directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many single crochets to make.
  • The instructions that read (a number +sc2tog + a number) or (a number + sc2tog + a number) means that you sc2tog the specified sts and work scs in the number of stitches indicated.
  • The instructions that read (a number +2x + a number) or (a number + 2x + a number) mean that you sc twice into the st and work scs in the number of stitches indicated.

Tada! There’s the new pattern and I sure hope you like it! See ya next week.
