It’s Finally Here! The Diana Tote Bag Pattern!

If you follow me on Istagram, Twitter, or Fb you may have already seen photos of this bag in different points in the process of being completed. I honestly hoped to have this pattern finished sooner but things came up, as life always does, and I wasn’t able to get it finished and then get the photos done… sigh. I also had yarn issues. For this pattern I used Stitch Studio by Nicole in Storybook Lullabuy and wow, this was bad yarn. I purchased this yarn when the husband and I were in Raleigh and came across an A. C. Moore, which we don’t have by us on the regular. I bought a lot, I think 13 – 15 skeins, of this yarn, because it was on sale for $1.99 and I was able to get an additional 15% off, only to have about half of the ones I used for this bag have knots in them! Most of those had multiple knots. From what I’ve heard from other people, and A. C. Moore’s own Fb page, this is a common occurrence with this yarn. That’s a shame, because it’s rather lovely yarn when it’s not full of knots. Outside the knot situation, this bag was fun to work up and I’m really glad I did. It’s got a lot of stretch to it, making it a pretty nice shopping tote. 😀

So, anyway, I wish it didn’t take me so long to get this pattern done but I’m so glad it’s finished. I hope you like it! The pdf is ready, just needs to be uploaded and I’ll try to get that done tomorrow. If you have any troubles with this pattern, please let me know! 😀

Terms/stitches used:

  • St: stitch
  • Ch: chain
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Hdc: half double crochet

Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in three parts: the base, the sides, and the handles. The sides and handles are worked in the round, the back is worked back and forth.
  • There are some turns at the beginning of the rows but not all.
  • You’re going to need to know how to work into the back third loop of a hdc.
  • You don’t have to fasten off color A between color changes, unless you want to. Just drop the inactive yarn and then pick it back up when it becomes active. The instructions below do not tell you fasten off color A but it does color B.
  • This pattern was written using light worsted/ dk weight yarn but you can use worsted weight.
  • The bottom portion was crocheted in worsted weight yarn, to give it more stability, you can do this part in worsted or light worsted, crafter’s choice.
  • This pattern was written with the rainbow of colors included (7 colors total), you can ignore those instructions if you want to make this pattern is more or fewer colors. Color A is white and color B is any other color.
  • Rotate on row 11 means rotate the whole piece 90°.

Again, I do hope you enjoy this pattern. It’s huge and may be my favorite pattern. I took this out the day after I had the pattern completed and went yarn shopping. It was positively yarn/craft-ception. Or not, if you think my humor is silly.

In other news. I’m still working on my newsletter. I wrote it up and tried to send it out but MailChimp has decided that my newsletter is a bit suspect. Rude, right? I don’t know why, I just had links and pictures to my products… also a coupon code just for newsletter subscribers. That’s right, when I get the newsletter out, you will be getting something special for subscribing. I hope to run exclusive deals for subscribers each month. Unless I change it in the future, there will be only one newsletter a month. That won’t be too bothersome, right? Hopefully MailChimp decides that my newsletter isn’t spam.

Have a great week! Also, keep an eye on my Facebook page and Twitter to see updates on when I’ll be hosting a giveaway for the Chloe Hat pattern.

I just have a question. You said that you posted the color changes, but when I was reading the pattern, I didn't see where to change colors. If you could help me out id greatly appreciate it. Other than that I'm loving working up this pattern. Thank you
