Materials:
- 2.10 mm size crochet hook
- 3 – 4 colors of size 10 crochet thread
- needle to weave in ends
Gauge:
- 17 sts x 8 rows = 2″ x 2″
Terms/stitches used:
- Ch: chain
- Dc: Double crochet
Notes:
- This piece is worked with the right side facing you and each row beginning on the same side, this means no turning following row 1.
Finished product dimensions:
- Height: 2” – 2.5” (this is for the whole chevron)
- Width: 4”
With first color- row 1: Ch 26, [2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into 4th ch from the hook, *skip 2 sts, dc 3 times into next st* repeat from * to * twice more, skip 3 sts, dc 3 times into next st, repeat from * to * twice more, skip 2 sts, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into last ch. Fasten off. – 30 dcs
With second color- row 2: Pull up a loop in first ch 3 space from previous row (indicated by the red arrow in photo on the left), ch 3(counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into same ch 3 space, *dc 3 times into space between 3 dcs from previous row,* repeat from * to * twice more, skip next space between 3 dcs, repeat from * to * 3 more times, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into last ch 3 space from previous row. Fasten off. – 30 dcs
With third color- row 3: Pull up a loop in first ch 3 space from previous row, ch 3(counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into same ch 3 space, *dc 3 times into space between 3 dcs from previous row,* repeat from * to * twice more, skip next space between 3 dcs, repeat from * to * 3 more times, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into last ch 3 space from previous row. Fasten off. Weave in, and secure, all ends.- 30 dcs
With fourth color- row 4: Using the image on the left as a reference, start where the red arrow is and move around the motif following the blue arrows. Ch 70 (or as long as you would like, this will determine how far the necklace hangs on the decolletage), dc 3 times into the last dc from row 3 (red arrow), skip to the last dc of row 2 & dc 3 times there, skip to the last dc of row 1 & [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] there, rotate piece (so that rows 1-3 are upside down and you’re working along the chs from row 1), *dc 3 ties into next ch 2 space, * repeat from * to * twice more, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into next ch 3 space, repeat from * to * three times, skip to first dc from row 1 & [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] there, skip to first dc of row 2 & dc 3 times there, skip to first dc of row 3 & dc 3 times there, ch 70 (or as many as you did the first time around). Fasten off. Weave in ends accordingly.
Options:
- Instead of a ch leading up to row 4, you can do a foundation sc (as seen in the photo to the left).
- Get creative with colors and the addition of beads.
- Using different size hooks will change the size of the necklace.
- Use a fabric stiffener to make the necklace solid.
