Wow is it Tuesday already? I do not know where the time goes! I feel like I’m always running behind, always getting distracted and never really ready for the day. Do you feel like that? I dunno, maybe I’m just strange. Right now I feel like there’s no time in the day and I just need more hours and extra hands! I thought I’d take a break from all the fun tapestry crochet designs I’ve been putting out lately to celebrate back to school with everyone! Apple ring, for you or the teacher?
This pattern isn’t s super difficult, just a bit hard on the hands if you’re not used to using crochet thread. If you want, you could try it out in worsted weight yarn with a G (4.00) mm crochet hook and it would make a cute napkin ring. Dunno, but I encourage you to try!

Materials:

  • 2.25 mm crochet hook
  • Size 10 crochet thread
  • Glue (optional)
  • Needle to weave your ends in

Gauge:

  • 14 scs x 15 rows = 1.5″ x 1.5″

Terms/ stitches used:

  • Magic Circle
  • Ch: Chain
  • St: Stitch
  • Slip St: Slip Stitch
  • Sc: Single Crochet
  • Hdc: Half Double Crochet
  • Dc: Double CrochetRavelry link

Notes:

  • You can adjust the ring as much as you want: make it smaller, taller, larger- it all depends on what you need.
  • If you would like, you can glue the pumpkin to the band or you can sew it on with the ends you have left over.
  • The band is worked in the round with a slip st into the first.
  • The ch 1, at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
  • The apple is worked in the round with a slip st, the stem is worked back and forth and the leaf is just chs.
  • Color A is tan, color B is red and color C is brown in the photos.

Stem:

With Color C, create a slip knot on your hook and sc around the last slip st from row 3 into the last sc from row 2, sc into the next sc from row 2 (also going around row 3) – 2 scs
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc into the next 2 sts – 2 scs
Fasten off, weave in all your ends.
Leaf:
(any color you want) Pull up a loop on the first sc from the stem, ch 7, slip st back into the same st, fasten off and weave in all your ends.

Finishing:
Once you’re all done with the ring and the apple, you can glue the apple to the band or sew it. It’s really up to you, I like to use fabric glue that doesn’t stain to attach thread to each other. Make sure you test your glue on thread, things like super glue will discolor the thread. And if you have it laying around, you can use puffy paint to add apple seeds to the center of the apple, which I did on my apple earrings (coming soon!).

Tada! I’ve got some more apple themed ideas for the coming weeks. I hope you’re ready for Fall like me!
