Hi everyone! How are you doing this week? I’m doing really well, getting a lot done and pretty close to being ready to be move in a few weeks. It’s scary and I’m trying to do as much as I can to get ready to combat the anxiety I’m feeling about moving. Moving is never not scary, you know? But at least there’s crochet to comfort me. I can disappear in to planning patterns and trying new techniques in Tunisian and for a little while I don’t feel overwhelmed by moving. It’s nice, I recommend it to everyone 🙂
Anyway… enough about me and my move. This week’s new pattern is another square in the #2018TSAP! This one is a bit more daring then the others – it’s a sorta abstract. I hope you can see that it’s supposed to be a daffodil. I was thinking with April’s square being a rain cloud, May had to be flowers – get it? April showers bring May flowers? I’m such a nerd, right? Not to mention, it’s my mother’s favorite flower and Mother’s Day is in May! Lots of connections in my head as to why I came to this design conclusion. I’m more than a little silly about crochet, as you might have been able to tell.
Thank you for participating in this CAL. I’ve got a paid pack that I did in fact design, it’s currently with my testers, and will be out in June. I hope you will be excited to make all 12 squares for this year. 🙂 The paid pack will just be extra, for fun, ya know? And I’m getting ideas on how to join your squares together – I’ll start making a list of ideas 🙂
So, yeah, I hope you like this week’s design and I can’t wait to see your squares on Ravelry and Instgram – don’t forget to use the hashtag #2018TSAP and #DivineDebris. If you just tag me in the caption I might miss it, I and don’t want to, I love seeing your photos.

Take care, see you next week!

Don’t forget, if you purchased last month’s square there’s a coupon in there for this month’s square! You can get this square for $.50.

If you appreciate my weekly patterns I hope you’d consider purchasing an ad-free pdf of this pattern for $1.75 in my Ravelry shop.

Never miss a free pattern

  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • 16 rows x 15 scs = 4”
    Ravelry link

Terms/stitches used

  • RS: right side
  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is worked flat from the bottom up in back and forth rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row.
  • This square measures about 7.5″ unblocked and will come out with 8″ with a sc border (explained below). The photos do not feature a border.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • Every stitch in this pattern is a single crochet. The directions will only tell you what color (ie: Color A, Color B, etc…) and the number in the parentheses tells you how many scs to make.
  • The use of bobbins like they use on Hodgepodge Crochet is suggested for this pattern.
  • Your square may need some light blocking.
  • You will need to know how to create a slipknot on your hook for this pattern.
  • In the example, the inactive yarn is carried behind the active. If this is confusing, you might want to check out the helpful Moogly video on tapestry.
  • Color A is off-white (Caron One Pound in Off-White), color B is green (Caron One Pound in Green Grass), color C is yellow (Caron One Pound in Sunflower), and color D is orange (Red Heart Super Saver in Carrot).
