Positively Hat Weather With the Free Willow Bonnet Crochet Pattern

Wow, November is almost over and it’s finally cold here! It’s the end of November and it’s just barely coat weather. Give me a month and I’ll be complaining about how cold it is. 🙂

Ravelry link

Speaking of the end of November, I have to work this week at a retail place, on Black Friday, so I hope if you’re out shopping you are super awesome to the sales people because sometimes it sucks.

Anyway, originally I was going to writing a pattern featuring bulky yarn, because Charisma was on sale last week and I have, uh, some. 🙂 But as I was working up pretty much this same pattern I didn’t like it, it didn’t wear right. So instead I randomly selected colors from my stash of some Vanna’s Choice and made this fun slouchy hat. I’ve seen a few photos of hats like this come through my FB feed and I really wanted to make one. Funny enough, these happen to be the exactly same colors I used for the last Willow hat I made. Considering all the yarn I have, what are the odds!
Anyway, I hope you quite enjoy this pattern.

You can purchase an ad-free pdf of this pattern in my Ravelry shop. This helps me to continue to make patterns week after week

Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in the round, from the top down, with a slip st into the first st of the row. The band is worked back and forth in rows.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch.
  • The ch 2 at the beginning of some rows does count as a stitch.
  • The spike sc/ sc rows are a bit more dense compared to the hdc rows, just keep that in mind and keep your tension even on those rows.
  • When working the spike sc, you work into the row beneath your active one.
  • You can fasten off between color changes, but it’s not necessary. You can carry the yarn if you’d rather, it just won’t make a cleaner look inside.
  • The 3 sizes are slightly different from each other. The size in the photos is 20” on a size 22” model.
  • In the photos: color A is pink (Vanna’s Choice in Magenta Pink), color B is gray (Vanna’s Choice in Charcoal Gray), and color C is green (Vanna’s Choice Light Muted Green).
