I know, I know, Valentine’s Day was on Sunday… but you don’t really need a time of the year to wear a heart headband, do you? I’ve actually had this pattern 45% ready for a bit but the photos and details just didn’t get finished before Valentine’s came around. Better late than never, right? Don’t forget to check out my current giveaway!

Notes:

  • You can make this pattern one color, making it considerably easier than if you’re trying to change colors in the heart.
  • When changing colors, you ch 6 and pull up the second color on the ch 7, then sc into the designated sts, and then on your last sc, changed colors on the last yarn over pull through.
  • The yarn is carried and worked around in the heart section. This is a good tutorial for working around colors.
  • Color A is red and  Color B is cream in the photos.
  • Color A is worked over when you’re creating the heart in the center.

  • For the heart, you only use the color when it’s active and it’s dropped when you are finished with it. When you need it again, pull the yarn across (in the photo above with the pink arrow), with slack, and work over it as well as Color A when you go across (bottom photo above). When you get to the top of the heart and you have red chains that interrupt the cream single crochets, use your tail to secure these pieces of yarn in place.
  • This design is easy to change the size, just subtract single crochets from both sides of the heart until you’re happy with the size.
  • Finished measurements:

    • Height: 3.5″ – 4.5″ (for all sizes)
    • Diameter: 9″, 9.5″, 10.5″

Use the tail from Color B on row 14 to secure the yarn. The photo above shows my mess of yarn when I worked those rows, dropping Color B when it wasn’t active and picking it back up when it was. If you want,  you can cut the ends and make it look pretty. I just left enough slack and used my tail to secure all this mess down. Can’t even feel it when worn.

Tada! I hope you like this pattern. If you have any questions on it, let me know at any time. And although Valentine’s Day over, I hope you still give this pattern a chance.

    Have a good week.
